Hexdrinker's CD should be increased.

We all know Hexdrinker's that item that makes it hard for mages to succeed in bursting someone down. And although I think it's slightly ridiculous a 1300 gold item can do so, let's accept that it's needed for some melee champions to win matchups against burst mages.

But I think it's too strong: it pretty much negates 160 magic damage at level 6, in addition to giving 35 magic resist.

So if you're Syndra, your ult does 300 damage and you would normally do 300 * 0.83 = 250~ damage against a 20 magic resist target, Hexdrinker makes it so you do 300 * 0.65 = 195 damage. Reduce that by another 160 for the shield, and your impressive 250 damage has been reduced to 35.

And Hexdrinker has a shorter cooldown than your ult, so it'll be up every time you can ult until level 11, when your CD becomes 100 and your CDR should be sufficient to put it under 90... but even then, that assumes you ult him off CD.

I think preserving the item's current strength is fine, but increasing the CD would give burst mages a larger window to play around Hexdrinker. 90s means it's up more often than an ult in the early game.

upvoted! it's an unfair item when the only equivalent a mage gets is seeker's in the earlygame and the item that builds into is focused on not retaliating but simply avoiding while ad champions get qss and maw and mercs that allow them to amass more mr (which is more cost efficient than armor) and retain in combat presence along with other free stats (spellvamp, tenacity, cc cleanse, lifesteal).

To be perfectly honest, Maw of Malmortius should either be deleted entirely, so that Hexdrinker doesn't build into anything, making it a strictly early game investment, or Hexdrinker should do basically nothing early, making it a lategame anti-fed mage item.

Though I'd personally love to see Thornmail turned into a true anti-ADC item that returns as much as 40% of the damage of the auto, and applies GW.

Hexdrinker is good in a pure 1v1

however no competent Mage is going to take an 1v1 against an AD champ if you continue to poke them and disengage you won't have any problem

unless you're Karthus you have no right to make this thread
