Disconnected players should passively gain some exp and extra gold

Obviously not enough to compare to those who are actually in the match, but this change would help keep players who just reconnected after being dc'd for 10 minutes from becoming walking ATMs for the enemy team.

Cant see this being abused at all +1

I approve of this. Sort of like ARAM exp.

yea this would help for those unfortunate times that you dc.

Or you can not go afk. If you have shit internet, don't play a competitive online game.

BakedLotion1/17/2016, 3:35:46 PM3 votes

It would create toxicity between players. I know this because I have a P.H.D.

Drugoth1/17/2016, 7:08:29 AM3 votes

I don't know about doing this... I feel it's just more of an excuse for people to afk.

I don't think it's a good idea. It would probably get abused. Also, DC people should not get any benefit, they should just lower the LP loss and gains of the other players and get banned.

The only thing is, you get levels super fast when you get back into game anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Dragonis Gardia1/17/2016, 5:05:49 PM2 votes

i think current passive gold is enough. But an afk xp gain would be really nice

I definitely agree. The system should give you a tiny amount of bonus exp + gold (Not enough to ever abuse) just so that when you do (Hopefully) reconnect, there's a fair chance of winning and not just four players + one cannon fodder.

How to balance this

Let's say you get DCed and while you are gone your 4 allies accumulate 1000 exp and 600g

That then transfers to you on reconnect at a 100% the average so you get 1000/5 and 600/5 resulting in 200 exp and 102g on reconnect

It's a minuscule 20% of what your team accumulated while you were DC. This of course can be number tuned to a lower percentage to prevent abuse but the idea is you would not be entirely behind bust still noticeably weaker than you allies who didn't DC

This would give the support about what they would have gotten in lane exp wise but noticeably less gold and they lose them being there for pressure which puts the lane on a losing term to begin with with a 1v2 so the adc will be getting less gold and exp if the enemy knows how to abuse it

The gold income would be noticeably less than what the support would have got in lane

And let's say the top DCed, he ends up with much less gold and exp on return to game than if he stayed connected and in lane

DC doesn't just cost the team gold and exp, it costs the team pressure as well

The idea is the DC return will give them about what a support would get in lane for exp and gold, so even if the support DC and comes back when his adc is lvl 6 (assuming it happened at start of game) the support would get back to lane after reconnect at lvl 3-4 instead of lvl 1

Idk if you have ever d/c'ed from a match and come back but it is really easy to catch back up in exp. Gold is another story but you can catch up from level 3 to level 10 if everyone in the game is 12-13 in 2-3 minion waves.

What I mean by this is that there is no level of passive exp that will matter without being exploitable. Who cares if you d'c at 3 and are now 5 it only saves you one wave tops.

Gold is another story but how much is enough to make a difference without being exploitable by the support? The bot lane can be a passive lane that can't really exploit being in a 1v2 like braum and vayne vs a champion that can farm decently alone like cait and at that point if there is even an argument for "d/c is the best strategy" then it is a bad mechanic.

This would be very useful for me and my craptop :D

You know someone would work out the math (or make a program to do so) and say "wow, you'd have more gold and levels if you just AFKed" and people would either leave the game to catch up or leave because they were frustrated.

I'm in Silver, and I know I've had games where I can't last hit to save my life. Silver and lower players make up at least half the community, so I think it's safe to assume at least half the community has had games where they can't last hit to save their life. I could easily see people saying "I'm doing so bad, I'm just going to AFK, get some popcorn, calm down, come back to this match in a few minutes, then play better."

The best way to punish a player who leaves should just be a lost prevented and a warning or ban to the player who left.
