A stricter chat filter could solve the problems with chat toxicity

Before I begin, I would like to state that this is only a theory, I have not done any tests whatsoever.

With the current chat filter, anybody could just turn it off, my idea is that if everyone was forced to use it, people would get a better understanding of how their teammates recieve what you say. Even if it is forced on, everyone will just dodge the filter by using variants like "fuk" or "fk" and somehow even "fucked." In order of strictness added, I will show you my idea options. I'm doing this because we may or may not need to be very strict because I didn't test any of these. (All of these will require the chat filter to be on)

  1. Censor all forms of variants.
  2. (All of the above) + Completely deny any chat message that contains a censored word.
  3. (All of the above) + Allow teammates to vote gag a toxic ally.

In conclusion, the chat filter isn't all that helpful, and making it stricter will surely stop people from being toxic in chat. In theory, option 3 could literally fix chat toxicity, but it needs testing. As we all know, the mute button alone can't end the toxicity.

people will always find ways to go around chat filters and just adding more words to it won't do anything since it's extremely easy to get over any filter if you really want to. Why even bother to vote gag someone? just mute them without needing to waste time voting for this

There is a point in which every single variation will be removed. The only way around it is too say stuff like "kcuf" or "filk" , and they hardly represent the word they want to work around. Also do you really think that mutes are helpful at all? When you mute someone, they can still talk to your team but you can't listen. I'm sorry buddy but communication with your team is essential for league because is it very reliant on working as a team. With this system, there will be no reason to mute anybody because they are not allowed to be toxic. Did you not read any of what I said at all?

people will just go around the filter, they can use different words, they can make new creative ways of saying the exact same word. I'm sorry to say this but this system won't solve anything because you can still be toxic even while using normal words, what then? start adding those words into the filter? or are you going to also be as childish as to add stupid words to the filter like the word stupid for instance? how about when people say "you are a tool" are you going to add the word 'tool' to the filter too? If someone is being toxic in chat you have two options, you either mute them or ignore them, neither of those two are hard to do. Adding a dumb filter isn't going to stop anyone from being toxic

That's why there should be a gag for people who use normal words to be toxic.

a gag how? people voting? unless it's something unanimous that's not going to work and would be easily abusable. Also, once again just mute them since that would be no different you now have someone who cannot communicate with the team anymore so how is that any different from simply muting them?

With a gag, it basically lets you know that everyone has him muted. Also if abused, there should be a report for gag abuse option, and then punishing the abusers.

once again why bother with it if you can just mute him and be done with it. Why make something when there is already a method of doing the exact same thing. Do you really need to know if everyone muted someone? since that's the only benefit to something like a gag

Can't mute ping spams D:

MeleeNuke1 votes

Shoot I should've addressed this. For now you can mute all pings in the options.

Brascus1 votes

Yeah but that also punishes people who aren't being assholes. Usually 3 of your team mates are nice and 1-2 are out to burn the entire match to the ground.

That's why I said "for now" >.<

I was reading the comments, and I would have to say that I am genuinely surprised. Why does the community WANT to have toxic teammates? Would anybody who wants to end toxicity in chat, please up-vote the thread so Riot can see this post? Thank you.
