I'm really not gonna understand the people complaining about Hextech Crafting.

It's the possibly to get FREE stuff. A small chance to unlock things that would normally cost money... FOR FREE. No you aren't supposed to unlock a free skin every five games. Stop with the entitlement. Thank riot for even giving us a chance to unlock free things. That is all.

theyre using the system in a manipulative way, and try to create addictive behaviour patterns.

a lot of people who are playing this game arent even earning their own money. theyre some teens who use their parents wallets to buy their skins. you can give a baby crack and then yell at the mother why shes complaining. after all youre giving out stuff for free, right?

basically the entire goal of giving people free chests is, so you can never open them all. key droprates are lower than the amount of chests you can earn. over long youll build up a stack of chests that you cant open without purchasing keys.

this is far more profitable than just giving out lower amounts of chests that youll be guaranteed to open.

between the amount of chests you can earn, the champion shards you find in them, the icons and ward skins, and the cosmetic content you have to trash for essence, the chances that you get a skin for even a champion youre playing are very slim.

theyre not losing out money on champion skins you wouldnt have bought anyways.

dont mistake the system for something that was created out of good will.

Free isn't good enough. Sure you won't always get something you like, but all you did was play the game like you normally do to get it. Hell, I got Mecha Zero Sion in my last box which more than makes up for the stuff I didn't like. I just don't understand people.

The only problem that Hextech Crafting had was giving you champion shards even if you already owned all the champions.

But this problem is going to be solved with the upcoming patch.

the complaints are more or less RNG feels bad, like almost unfair unless you put money into it.from what I've seen people are either very lucky or put 500 dollars into it before they get noticeable skins ,of coarse value is in what you believe, but not alotta people get skins they want or have value in. on top of that there is champion shards which are useless if you own said champion, especially considering blue essence has no use as of this point in time. icons that i havent seen anyone get in a chest i just know there is a tab saying icons and ward skins that are hit and miss. Imagine if you will you open 5 chests they contain ryze, tribal sejuani, he man pantheon, vancouver amumu and ashe not really impressive is it now lets say these chests took a month next month you open 5 chests also earned free you get 3 champs you own and 2 skins that you dislike. people all have different taste and the system has more RNG than gps and kennens old ults I mean every skin for every champ that expands every 2 weeks every champ that expands roughly every month or two then you have ward skins and icons that also isn't set in stone. tho with this all in mind I do agree with you people need to stop bitching over it if you want a skin put that 30 bucks twords the skin instead of chests n loot...unless its a traditional skin legacy or hextech annie

I got Dark Candy Fiddlesticks and Arcade Hecarim without spending a single penny. I love this system

It's a poorly designed system and reeks of a cash-grab. It's intentionally designed to make it damn-near impossible to get enough keys to open all the chests you earn so you have to buy keys. Not to mention the arbitrary restriction that you cannot earn chests or key fragments with champions you don't own means new players are disadvantaged the most because they can barely afford runes, much less a large roster of champions on which to earn rewards.

It also sends a weird message in which the most efficient use of time to earn rewards is to binge a few days every month once your key-drop rate resets, then just not play until the next reset because after about 5 fragments your drop-rate becomes so low it's literally not worth the time to try and earn them. The grind is too real.

TL;DR - Hextech Crafting is a predatory system designed to take advantage of naive players. It's also the first step on the slippery slope of pay-to-win games in which beating the game is physically impossible until you pay for the special gems that let you skip waiting. If you just pay 125RP you can open your shiny new chest now!
