Why is warwick liked so much?

Zed genius··3 votes·1,937 views

There is a certain discussion on the hot topic and there are 3 comments (2 of them are mine) basically expressing a dislike towards warwick and they are downvoted to hell. Have seen people say that warwick is "the most balanced champion in the game", which is idiotic. There is no such thing as "most balanced champ". If there was one they would be at a 50% winrate all the time or sth. Seriously warwick's new design even if it's better than the pre reworked one is still unhealthy and unfun to play against. He is the most basic jungler in the game, point and click champion for the most part. Why do people like him so much? It's actually astonishing. Like actually people,** what do you like about warwick**? I legit don't get it. I get people liking yasuo because he is fun to play and people hating him because he can be annoying as hell if used properly, but warwick?Legit can someone explain to me why they like that dumbass champ? The only thing that I like is the cinematic teaser of his rework Nobody cares to even discuss furthermore to this topic and they just babyrage downvote different opinions(probably this post too).

Because the champ is fair to play against? Granted he needs some number tunings as of right now but man... Whenever I die to a WW I never feel cheated, I never feel like shit dying to a cheap ass mechanic, I always feel like I could have done something to avoid that. The feeling of getting hunted by WW or be the hunter as WW is really well done, the indicator that he is coming is fair, his ganks are fair.

He is a FAIR champion! None of this stealth Twitch bullshit or the point and click J4 ult ganks or Rammus running into your lane with 600 movementspeed NO! You know when he is coming and if he doesn't activate his boost or you are not below 50% hp his ganks are significantly weaker.

It doesn't matter if he is all point and click, every ADC and enchanter is pretty much point and click.

... Plus he is a good boy!

running into your lane with 600 movementspeed

that's what warwick does? Plus the fact that he is unstopabble during q and follows dashes with his idkwtf% damage reduction on his E...man idk how that feels fair to die to

nelogis3 votes

yes but you have a big ass indicator above your head and a soundtrack you can hardly ignore?

For him to use the Q he would have to walk up to you (which can be interrupted upon simply damaging WW).

He needs the damage reduction otherwise he would be blown up im teamfights in an instant.

For him to put the fear to best use he needs to somehow get behind you to fear you back to the enemy.

There is plenty of room to act between both players when a WW ganks.

I think one of the coolest interactions ww has is how you can outplay his ult by timing your cc (jayce hammer form E, raka silence, etc) to hit right after his ult hits you and it cancels completely, did it once w/ jayce and it was pretty sweet, also did something similar vs malz as yasuo, threw my tornado right as he ulted me and it cancelled his ult.

Its why playing WW against a comp w/ an enemy soraka is always gonna be tough, if you ult anyone but the raka she can just drop her silence on top of you and almost immediately cancel your ult.

WW is strong but he absolutely has reasonable counterplay

Ahristocats3 votes

you can damage him to remove the W bonus speed you can stop his ult you can dodge his ult you can bait his E Q is low range

what exactly isn't fair? what is broken?

Diamond2Kappa1 votes

Move speed W even without you being low > point and click Q > guaranteed fear > gueranteed ult :[

Enderspider1 votes

q has a really short range. his w movespeed can be canceled easily by simply damaging, additionally it has a really obvious indicator that he's using it. His fear can be avoided, as well as his ult now with his rework.

was. He was liked a lot because he was very balanced under the old rune system.

try and comment somewhere that you hate warwick. Guaranteed 20 downvotes in a few hours time :)

Hethalean2 votes

Prefice: Not to be mean, but there's a lot of reasons that I see here to downvote you other than just being a baby rager.

If you use the same diction, then you might get downvoted because you sound like a complainer who's just venting really and insulting people.

He has one 'point and click ability' and one skill shot then two self buffs that you want to use at the right time. That's not very 'point and click mostly'.

You claim he is unhealthy, but as warwick has clear strengths and weaknesses, I'm not sure why you think he's unhealthy. I don't think that he is unfun to play against so it's just opinion. However, a lot of your claims seem to stem just from your opinion.

I think that he's fun to play because his ult is still an incredible high, but it's a weird question to ask. It's personal preference, and quite frankly you're quite demeaning towards people who has a differing opinion to yours (aka likes Warwick). "Omg, why do people like pizza? It's astonishing! People call it the best food ever, but it's idiotic!" That sort of thing.

The logical fallacy that you're employing (false dichotomy > Downvote? Baby rage Or you agree with me [this one is assumed]) also probably nudges people to down vote you.

Zed genius1 votes

A lot of my claims DO stem out of my opinion, but isn't that what boards are made for or am I missing something?

Hethalean1 votes

They are, but also, the boards are for downvoting people's opinions with which you do not agree (along with the opposite). That doesn't make them baby ragers, and then when you come to the boards with JUST your opinion, typically people are angry and will rage out in their post... then they get downvoted. That is what you're missing. That downvoting isn't baby raging but simply disagreeing with you mostly. On the other hand, you can get downvoted because you can say stuff with which they agree, but in a completely absurd and unhelpful way. Also you can get downvoted because there is no substance to your post.

haaaaaaalp1 votes

Yes and a lot of people may just not agree with your opinions. Upvotes/downvotes aren't a personal attack against you, it is simply a way to gauge what the community thinks is the most important issues. Discussion about the most broken champions go to the top. Discussion about other champions who don't need buffs/nerfs as much get pushed for a later date.

He can carry games easily.

Zed genius1 votes

this still doesn't explain why people claim he is "the most balanced champion in the game"

It's personnal preferences. I'm wonderring the same about YasuoZed. For me they're just ininspired generic samurai/ninja champions. and their "sick mecanics" is just a sad excuse for people to say that they are hard mode.

Who's having the easiest time dodging skillshots between Anivia with her 325 movespeed and Yasuo with his 345 movespeed, free dashes and windwall? ohhhhhh does that mean that Yasuo is actually easy mode???

Really a champion being easy or hard to play is relative to the context.

You could also say that WW is just a generic werewolf, which he his. But he appeals to people in the same way that some like samurai and ninjas.

I don't personnaly like Warwick, i think he's a decent take on tanky auto-attack champions, but in this regard i personnaly prefer Shyvana and Vi. People like werewolves and i guess his blood scent mechanic is fun and unique.

Zed genius1 votes

my question is why does like 3/4 of the community on boards love that champ, it's not just a few people that play him

Zed genius1 votes

and it's not the people that play him..people literally say they enjoy getting ran down and killed by a warwick like wtf

Enderspider1 votes

well its not that I like being ran down by him, its more that it feels sort of awesome with the sounds and stuff. Also its really funny when a warwick literally chases you to the other side of the map running through mid lane at mach 5

Alex h87211 votes

Lmao i have been on both sides of this.

Anivia, because she's long-ranged so the skill shots are usually fired from farther away.

He's just enjoyable to play, and I like his character theme.

Escheton1 votes

He has no outplay button against less mobile champions. But has plenty of mobility. He is powerful, but telegraphed. You can predict and outplay a non hyper-fed WW. Yet his kit allows a good WW to outplay their opponent. He has a bit of everything in his kit from cc to defense steroid. But all are short range, short duration and not without opportunity cost.

He's the fighter verson of Sion.

Enderspider1 votes

Well the thing is, he is in my opinion the best rework of the past. They took the good part of his kit, improved on them as well as adding some additional things without destroying his character. They made him into the champion they meant him to be. Also he is very strong while still having counterplay and a skill curve. He can be annoying to play against at times, but the same goes for every other champion in the game. He isn't the epitome of balance though, but he is close to it.

Mountain Warden1 votes

Thematically, he's extremely satisfying to play. His kit is perfect for his fantasy of a savage beast hunter. I just freaking love jumping in and going HAM with him. The sounds, the visuals, the game play mechanics... all of those just click with this champ. I think that's why people like him.

Gibberwatt1 votes

because he's f**in cool. That about covers it. and you don't feel pushed into a corner - he can do bork and ravenous, or titanic and visage. it don't matter, it work.
