This entire Preseason is a massive failure.

Im truly impressed that Riot actually managed to make this game worse than the garbage that was Season 8.

  • Dark Harvest is probably not balancable. Its not the amount of damage it deals, its the mechanic thats fundamentally flawed. It simply does not feel good playing against an execute Rune. Also the reset mechanic is bullshit. What happened to reducing upfront burst damage? You just added in more.
  • The new bounties are utterly stupid. People are basically being punished for being good. Not to mention that often times the bounties make no sense
  • Turret plating giving gold is beyond stupid. Tankier turrets is what everyone wanted, but why the fuck do they give such absurd amounts of gold? This only increases snowball and increases damage due to more gold being available early in the game.
  • What the fuck happened to reducing damage? Cause im not seeing it. Seems pretty obvious at this point that some idiot at Riot wants damage to be this high and they just 'acknowledged the issue' 9 months into s8 to placate the community when they had no intention of lowering it.

But its just Preseason right? Its fine everything will be fixed wait for Midseason.

  • DH is balanceable, they definitely put that reset to be similar to the old one, the biggest issue for DH currently is definitely the fact that if multiple people take it, once they poked someone below 50% HP, it's a free proc for everyone, even the ones that didn't do anything to help that, suggestion would be that there has to be a minimum cooldown before having a person's soul proc, say 25 seconds, that way they can't stack up on it, also remove the reset proc, but scale the cooldown to like 30 seconds late game keep the 45 seconds early.
  • The new bounties will need some tuning, it's legit the first patch it's been out so of course they'd need to get a better feel for it, it's currently making lower elo be worse because any lead you make will be taken away, and the mechanic definitely is seemed to target for higher elos, but right now I totally agree, getting leads are almost non existent, gold wise, which can be helpful for comebacks, but it feels less rewarding when you beat the enemy in a micro level or macro level.
  • The gold for turret plating is still up for tuning as well, again, it's legit been the first patch of preseason don't call it a failure from just that. The mechanic is mostly intended to make it so early grouping to push a turret can be more punished as gold is split between players nearby, so the individual lead is less, and they get a extra resistance temporarily that stack per plating destroyed in the last 20 seconds, and per champion on top of 40 resistances per plating destroyed up till 14 mins, it's definitely a promising mechanic so they just need to fine tune how much gold or how the gold will be split in the future
  • You seem to misinterpreting the "high damage", currently there are 2 things to blame, that is DH, and the speed up of the game due to how the new bounties work and turret plating. The only instance of an increase in damage ever in LoL's history is season 6 with the introduction of keystones, and that has carried on to today. The damage in a champion's kit generally hasn't changed over the years. While the introduction of keystones are controversial, I'm on the side that is thankful that they exist for one reason only, because champions that fall out of meta will still be viable to play even if you aren't a one trick. I know full well cause I've been a fill main for years, while it's always been rough to play champs that aren't meta, since season 6, they've definitely been much more easier to play, with the exception of the ardent meta, where shields and heals were so prevalent that burst wasn't an option at all.

It hasn't even been a week since the patch release, calm the fuck down. We're not even a full patch into Pre-Season, and Meddlr's gameplay thoughts are already talking about observing the results of the changes.

Edit: I'm Thanos'd, equally balanced. As all things should be.

My games on this patch have been very close with both sides having equal chance of winning due to comeback mechanics.

Added resistances have helped me survive lane bullies and tower damage buffs have saved me in dives.

Turret plating is always a huge buff for immobile champs who can't roam as well because the roam is now risk since I can grab a couple plates.

Dark harvest has received nerfs to bring it in line.

pre-season is all about having fun, but this pre-season has been an almost suicidal experience for me, due to the fact that the new runes are too powerful. and alot of tank champs now do more damage than bruisers, and unless you get punished for playing any champion that requires an ounce of skill. i thought league was meant to be fun, not a monotonous experience that leads to people ditching the game? this game is no longer fun to play, and hasn't been since the pre-season started. i used to have lots of fun messing around. but now that i can't win a single game( and i'm pretty sure people don't just loose skill overnight) i feel like i just need to ditch this game

I pretty much started copypasting my thoughts under threads like this one, because it got hard for me to phrase it differently everytime after repeating myself over and over again without actually being heard by Riot. I want to push these kinds of posts by sharing my point of view and I am glad they are increasing in numbers.

It is so fucking sad. I loved this game up until season 7 ended, with all my heart. I was completely passionate about it for five years, non-stop. This changed twelve months ago.

Starting season 8, League turned into a oneshot fiesta and a lot of champions lost their identities. Everyone deals a massive amount of damage and everyone can splitpush. Strategic teamfights turned into three seconds of button mashing. The calm aspect of the game, the part I loved most, completely vanished. Get seen/hit first, die. We became a Call of Duty MOBA.

For the first time in my life, almost every game of League felt empty, unsatisfying or frustrating. I kept telling myself: 'be patient, there has always been rough patches.' I kept telling this to myself for twelve months. I thought something similar to the old rune system would finally return, but this pre-season is a joke as well.

After agreeing that damage is too high (almost a year of complaints in), Riot releases the new Dark Harvest, just shifts the rune stat bonuses somewhere else and introduces completely inefficient defensive stats that are not worth taking instead of adding a true buff to overall defense.

I can not take another year of frustration. It is sad, but I guess I will turn my back on this game after six years and spend my free time meaningfully again. I really do not get how Riot does not see they could slow down the decline of their game massively by just reverting the rune system and champion base stats. It seems like the Chinese internet café scene is too important, so they force twenty minute oneshot fiestas down our throat.

I just want my favorite game back, but I guess that does not happen.

Isn't an execute mechanic better than upfront damage via Duskblade, Stormrazor, Electrocute, etc.? Also, "being punished for being good" and "only increases snowball" are mutually exclusive complaints. Turret shields give gold so you can take advantage of an open lane, and bounties give gold to provide a chance at a comeback.

That said, maybe there shouldn't be so much gold available.

I disagree with the bounty though. people are not getting punished for being good. They're getting punished for making mistakes. we had a game where the enemy was 12 and we were 0. But because of them making mistakes, we caught up in score, objectives and actually won the game.

It gives the losing team a fighting chance.

People before preseason: There is no way to comeback! We need some way to turn around a game! Riot with preseason: Alright heres a bounty system that gives you a clear way to turn around a game. People when preseason hits: THIS IS STUPID!!! I’M GETTING PUNISHED FOR PLAYING GOOD!!!
