It won't be a name change that'll make support more attractive

The fact is most of playerbase like to deal damage nonetheless. MMO is the reference here. How long can you wait in a queue as DPS for instance dungeons? But, let's talk about LoL. Why isn't support attractive here specifically ?

• Lack of Gold (XP issues has been solved-ish) • Can't be played outside of Botlane without getting bring back bot (ex: Lulu / Janna) or can't be played at all outside of support (Meanwhile Mage going bot being oppressive and... nvm not the topic) • Is less flashy / Feels less impactful (usually) • Feels like playing an Active Bot (ie. Getting as much Active items as possible e=and use them at the right time - Yeah I'm looking at ya item 3107 item 3190 ) • People can feel like they're relying on her ADC since even if Support gives the engage/protection, they're hoping for their Marksman to do the job. And sometimes it might make some people cringe.

As a Support player I know that feeling more than anyone, but really at the end of the day when you stop to think about it, this is true for everyone not just the support. The ADC is also screwed without the Support to protect them or the tank to be their front line. Same goes for the midlaner.

"Le damegez" mentality surely is a huge part of it tho, but i also feel the role being called Support just has an inherent negative connotation to it.

Yes and no. People like to make big numbers let's face it. I usually plays FFXIV and in party finder what's the hardest thing to find ? Tanks. Cause at least support there got some skills that swap the "healing stat" to "dps stat". But tank are more focused on getting/keeping the aggro and nothing much more.

Pretty sure that even if you call "Support", "Savior", "Rescue", even "God's Angel" people will still attribute it to Support. As much as Marksman is still ADC.

Support won't ever be as popular as any other lanes simply because you are relying on someone. When I asked my friends what they're thinking about support. They said they liked it only if the ADC is good or if they are playing with friends or playing a specific champion. They don't like the role globally but on specific cases.
