Why Ivern's brushes would be disgusting if he was taken support...

One champion in particular (I'm sure there are more ADCs who will immensely benefit from the brush, but this sticks out). Caitlyn. Now hear me out and let me explain, please. This is only an opinion, I'm not bashing your favorite Piltover waifu.

This all boils down to Caitlyn's Headshot passive, where all Ivern has to do is place a bush on Caitlyn as she farms, increasing her headshot stacks which double in brushes. So essentially she would be able to pull of a headhsot every three basic attacks when she hits 6 stacks (2, 4, 6), creating a massive area of damage zoning where she would be able to deal 50% (+ 0.5 × total critical damage modifier × critical chance) of total AD as bonus physical damage in quick succession, even more so if she rushed a item 3085 then a item 1038 .

While she will not receive the bonus range, the ability to give her a mobile brush to keep generating headshot stacks without limiting herself to the narrow brushes on the edge of the lane removes a huge amount of counterplay.

I may be wrong on this, but someone please correct me if so.

Fun fact, Ivern's bush making ability used to be in Caitlyn's kit years and years ago.

I mean, the newly created bush is a small area. She still can't move from roughly that spot.

Well, hopefully they reduce the amount the bushes stay and increase the cooldown on when they can get created.

It is a small buff, and mostly only a positioning buff. She has bushes in lane already. It will be difficult for the enemy to maintain vision of all of the bushes, but these bushes will be a double-edged sword.

Ivern's bushes only give allies persistent vision for 3 seconds, beyond that they act as normal bushes. If the enemy is able to force you out of or away from the bush, it becomes their asset.

I do agree with you though. Ivern will add an interesting mechanic as a support, and yes, this has good synergy with Caitlyn's passive. On the flip side, he will be a strong counter to Kalista because of her passive.

I also see him bringing about a strange smite-support, ... um, .. meta? Can it be a meta if he is the only one to do it?

Theres been mini-metas where smite was viable on supports on various occasions, either simply for things like chilling smite, or for the stats from sightstone machete+enchantment.

It's a weird pick, but it's not totally unviable even as it stands. Ivern may end up having extra motivation to do so, but we'll see.

And the cancer kog sated support.

Thing is Caitlyn can simply set traps around the brushes, and she will be outputing way too much damage to allow the enemy adc or support to get close unless they have Blitzcrank, Nautilus or Thresh . Almost impossible without a jungle gank if the Caitlyn has at least a functioning brain cell of what she's doing.

I think there are way more situations that can and will push you off of a bush in lane. If it was that easy she would do it now. Simply failing to control the minion wave properly, missing a skill shot, a small misstep, a roam/gank, can be all it takes to tip the scales against her.

the bushes are used to conceal them when he uses them as outhouses
