Losing motivation to continue with Ranked career

I finished my first ever placements, did well in all but 1 game and got put in Bronze. I know I am around Bronze/Silver level and have no problems with this or the placement system. What I have a problem with is how my Ranked career is going to go.

When I first played Ranked I was a noob and fed a lot. So I didn't touch it, went on these boards/reddit and got loads of help, watched hours and hours of guides/tips videos. Spent hours learning certain champions, hours learning to ward, objective control, shot calling, CS etc. Eventually I become decent at these.

So I go into Ranked and use all of these that I have learned and I'm like a completely new player. I can CS, I win my lane/play safe and not feed if I don't win lane, never push or invade without vision, never fight outnumbered, never let enemies get anything for free etc.

However, it seems I get really bad team mates every game. I know people always blame their team, but look at this image:

As you can see, I did well in all but 1 game (the Vlad game). I know kills don't mean everything, but if you look at the scoreboards, I was the ONLY one on my team who did well in the majority of the losses.

Such as:

  • Held mid lane for 18 minutes, even when the enemies had 20 kills to our 1 and their Riven had 6 kills before 10 minutes. Our bot lane also fed.
  • When playing Jungle, multiple lanes are lost and crying for ganks before I even get my first clear. When I successfully gank one lane, another feeds and vica versa. It's also common for them to overextend without warding despite me telling them to ward and end up dying.
  • Getting fed in lane/from ganks and continuing to get fed throughout the game despite my entire team getting slaughtered (fed Anivia OP btw).

I'm not saying "I am good and I have bad teams pls feel sorry for me", what I'm saying is I've spent so much time learning to play properly, making sure I am ready for ranked, only to get players who not only let me down, but don't listen or play safe whenever they do badly.

My worry? **I'm going to stay in Bronze, doomed to lose games no matter how well I play and how much I learn. **

I even said to my friend before I finished my placements that I expect to land in Bronze, it's just the manner of my arrival and the complete destruction of my motivation.

TL;DR My many hours of training, practicing and researching sees results in my performances but nothing come the end of the game. Considering not bothering with Ranked at all.

I feel your pain out of the 10 games I did I won 3.. I did well in each one except this one where I wanted to have fun and play Syndra but then remember I sucked at Syndra and I fed pretty hard. But, yeah I see your point. It is annoying the best advice I can say for climbing elo which I still don't like to do. Is cheese it. Play champions that take little mechanical skill and thus can carry games without your teammates

If you'd like to play some games for fun or hang out I'll be on later today RendDuzit I'd really love to hear back from you. I love meeting people.

Any recommendations for easy to play, easy snowball/carry champs?

Also I'm EUW not NA :( On these boards 'cause EUW boards are dead lol

Everyone feels the same in this Elo you just gotta get better to the point you can carry your team or just stopped playing ranked. I started bronze 2 last year, climbed To gold 3, and ended the season at gold4. I haven't played ranked since and I've had more fun in norms. It seems ranked lately the past few months was always a blow out. Either my team blows the other team out or our team gets Blown out. Norms it seems is much closer competitively and more fun

Good to see it's not only me :)

Carrying is the only topic I didn't research (I prefer to do well myself and let the rest of my team carry) so I'll have to learn that then.

Easy to snowball I'd Say Master Yi, Annie, Jax, Tahm Kench, Mundo..You normally want to play the champs they ban out often.. There is a reason for it. Then just other cheeses like Veigar against ap mids. Some of these champions I used to get to gold my first time. Now I'm palying stuff I like and getting shit on in ranked.

I have recently started to play Yi :) Only problem I realised is that by the time I'm fully sated and ready to unleash hell, the enemies are already at the inhib turrets lol I think I just need to watch more guides on him though

Despite his notoriety as having a bad early game his honestly isn't that bad. You have a rather easy gank on any champion with your ult (not guaranteed but good chance). Also never underestimate red buff. You can pull off good ganks at lv 3 against pushed lanes (although you risk counter ganks) So you can snowball the game from getting early kills and invading once your ahead/ just forcing fights at dragon that you can win.

If your looking for advice on playing him Id recommend looking at either Nightblue3 (Sometimes called rabia depending on the video) or Cow sep. Nightblue will give you an educational stream and Cowsep will probably give you the best build advice.

Thank you!

I'll have to learn how to properly carry too, 'cause I try to save my team mates way too much lol

Ya just another small tip from an eve player (who has a very similar play style to master yi pre 20 minutes (at which point they diverge))

This might sound cruel but if someone is getting caught out you should consider

a) If its 1v1 and they are running will my being there make them turn around? -How likely is it that the enemy JG is following the other laner in order to counter you trying to save them (Thus leading to them getting 2 kills instead of 1) b) If its 1v2 (IE they are being chased by lane and jg) -If you go there and they see you will they back off or continue to chase - If you go there can you win a fight 2v2

If you don't get a yes to any of those questions then ignore it and continue farming it sadly (although it could lead to some rage) its not worth your time. You'll lose more games to feeding an enemy laner two kills than having someone think your selfish and you coming up strong late game and making them groaningly accept that you'll be carrying them

I have an 87% win rate in ranked with Yi? 6 pentas and 12 quadras for statistics with him. He's really fun and easy.. And love when the chat yells at you for playing him.

I far from being a great play and my highest achievement was gold 1 as a support main but here are some tips.

  1. Help with warding and map awareness In lower rank players suffer from a bad case of tunnel vision and lack of warding. If you can help out with this it will greatly improve your odds of winning. I have seen many ap support players, play their champs as ap mid. therefore they had no gp5 or sighstone

2.Stick to play 3 lane very well and have at least 2 champs that you can play very well in those roles. the importance of this game is not to pick a yolo champ. stick to what you know how to play. you will never be ass good as the pros or the players on twitch. so cut that $hit out. Dont go for troll picks, just bc you saw someone do it and want to mimic him. Do that $hit in normals or AI

3.Learn how to build visit any website that you want that teaches you proper rune/mastery page. They learn how to adapt, in which i mean know when to buy what item. Depending upon who you are up against in lane or if the other team is dive heavy/tanky/cc heavy and such.

4.knowing when to roam there is nothing more painful then to watch your jungler or mid try to gank your lane when both you and your adc are low on mana. thats a guarantee death wish

  1. dont over extend just bc you have won or are winning your lane dont do it. You will end up feeding

If your main focus is just winning lane then you can't expect to really win your games. I'm a fairly bad laner and I actually 'lose' my lane far more often than I actually win them but I still won most of my games anyways. Whether you're playing solo or not the game is still team oriented, I made it to high plat mmr by basically playing like a support whether I was top, mid, or jungle. I always tried identifying the stronger players on my own team and helping them gain a lead because it doesn't matter if you individually do well you still need your team to win. This is part of why I actually liked that I got forced into jungling for 2 seasons, it is one of the better positions to help your team mates get ahead.

Yeah I know this, that particular example was just the other 2 lanes were so massively lost, Jinx was 0/10/2, Lux was 0/7/1, top (Mundo) was 1/8/2 lol. I would much rather someone else snowball and carry, that's a good idea to basically support your team though but not if they're 0/3/0 after a few mins :P

Aparker

ur image looks like my match history except with better kda and all losses lol
