In Regards to the Sandbox Mode Response

Although Riot's viewpoint on sandbox mode is disappointing, there seems to be a silver lining within their statement.

"We never want to see a day when a player wants to improve at League and their first obligation is to hop into a Sandbox. We do want to support your ability to grow in mastery, and there may be other avenues to do so, but not this."

While reading this, I've come to realize that there is in fact a way to do so. My suggestion is that new game modes should be introduced with the underlying purpose of improving one's skills. Gamemodes such as URF are mainly created for fun, but also increase the players' ability to use certain skills on champions.

I would like to see gamemodes released that appease the sandbox-wanting community in subtle ways.

For example:

  • a gamemode where flash is on a 5 or 10 second cooldown.

  • a gamemode where everyone has infinite gold and starts at LvL 18.

Of course, these gamemodes could be altered in many ways to make it more appealing and less of a practice mode. These are simply brainstorming ideas. I do not expect them to be taken completely seriously. The point is to add or remove certain restraints to the game in order to let the players experiment in a multiplayer environment.

This may be seen as a much better alternative than a sandbox mode in Riot's eyes since the player cannot simply go into a private match and experiment to their heart's content.
