Why Do People Double Up on Lethality?

I've never understood why ppl buy more then one lethality item. The key feature to these items that assassins love is a unique passive, meaning they dont stack but I constantly see assassins doubling down on these items instead of building into another kind of item that can take full advantage of it's stats

It stacks if its coming from different items.

It stacks. It always has. Unique passives stack as item x has a different name form item y. Let's say you bought yomuus. If you buy a serrated dirk, it stacks. Of you bought 2 Dirk's, then the 2 Dirk's don't stack.

Like the 20% cooldown from item 3115 and item 3165

or the hsp % increase on item 3504 item 3222 and item 3107

The lethality passives do stack due to how_**UNIQUE **_ passives work. Unique passives do not stack from multiple of the same item. You cannot buy 3 duskblades to get 3x the leathality. You can buy the 3 leathality items to do the same thing though.

Compare this to the Unique Named passives. For instance: spell blade from item 3057 and the items it builds into, do not stack no matter what item you buy. If you get a item 3047 and a item 3111 you only get 45 ms as the "enhannced movement" passives do not stack.

If it reads: Unique passive then two of the same item will not stack.

If it reads : Unique passive - (a name here, ie "spell blade" or "enhanced movement") then you can only gain the effect from one item.

If the unique passive is from the same item it does not stack (item 3147 + item 3147 does not stack)

--

If the unique passive is not named, then it stacks from different items (item 3147 + item 3142 stacks)

--

If the unique passive is named, it does not stack with any other unique passive of the same name (item 3076 + item 3075 "Thorns" does not stack)

Ok then, thanks for clearing that up guys, that shit just pisses me off then. I mean if they're just trying to differentiate between how certain passives can't stack it would make a lot more sense for riot to simply disable players from having multiples of the exact same finished item. It would of also cleared up my confusion on their wacky concept of "unique" and "unique with a name" and i don't think anyone stacks the same exact items anymore.
