Its a free ward, and he needed to buy a 75G ward to place when he could have placed much more wards during the game. Honestly its like people buy it only because it in their recommended item list. Theyll then complain about there not being wards out on the field when they could help out!

He bought the trinket and didn't use it. He was aware of wards because he bought one and placed it though. Trinkets were the most positive addition to the game in the last 2 years.
