Teemo Only Player Post-5.15 Teemo Critique

My main is Teemo is Life, Platinum 4 last season, Gold III this season (and steadily rising!) I only play Teemo. http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/45134395#profile
I only recently came back to playing after these Teemo changes, and after getting a feel for them, and also discussing with other players that are higher ranked Teemo players, I've noticed one critique stand out over everything else:
Mushroom Detonation Time
_tl;dr: Teemo has no escape and if he gets caught, he is most likely dead. Teemo needs shorter Mushroom Detonation time the closer he puts the shroom down, and longer the farther he throws it. That .5 seconds where you are hoping your shroom will pop when Riven is in your face is part of the 2.0 seconds that it takes to bring him from 100 to 0. _
It's weird, because Teemo is naturally an aggressive champion, consider him a high-risk, high-reward style of champion. I feel if anything, the changes made to him emphasize that, with exception of this detonation time. In a standard 1v1 fight, your enemy will engage, and you plop a mushroom on their feet. You can't do that now- they can literally just walk away from it. I feel like this change is making Teemo more of a "Nidalee" sort of champion, where you require poking your opponent before even daring to make a move. I believe that Teemo should adopt a more mobile perspective of playstyle, as far as it goes with shrooms. Anyone can understand why minefields and placing shrooms all over the map is an unfair thing, especially with the removal of oracles.
To make him a real team fighter, which is one of the most important qualities Teemo has lacked, he should focus on using shrooms for in-the-moment fights. So an average Teemo would have 3 shrooms before the fight, be able to plop them off and use them, but have low duration and really only help for the fight/escape. I believe this is sort of the direction Riot has been taking him, but the detonation time is a pretty serious change to go unnoticed, especially considering I only play Teemo and am very familiar with his playstyle.
My personal suggestion would be this- Make it so placing a shroom in the original, pre-5.15 range will cause the detonation time to be the same as it was pre-5.15, but then throwing it past that into the post-5.15 range will cause the detonation time to be the same as it was post-5.15. Teemo lacks defense and needs shrooms for security...and this patch totally ruins that security. Unless you plan ahead and hope the enemy falls for it, which really isn't a competitive perspective, considering it relies on chance.
