So I'm curious, if I were to pick up the yellow BTN, for the ward, and then later pick up Wriggles Lantern, and wanted to swap to Red BTN for the sweeper active, would it reset my trophy count?

No. Trading the necklace for another version of the necklace keeps all trophies you're gotten over the game.
