Ive been maining katarina for a while now and i love her hit, but even when i get fed, i cant seem to carry my team, and when i dont get fed, i just dont know what to do without my 1shot burst combos. im thinking of going back to tryndamere, my old main because of his splitpushing ability and increase my win rate. i know tryn is trash against good teams and teamfights, but i feel like i should try him for a while rn. any advice?
both your champs have absolutely no cc, and your asking your team to fill that for you, you aren't carrying your team, your team is filling your flaws
Katarina sucks late game, especially against tanks with a lot of cc. Meanwhile, Trynd can ult under CC and has a really high mobility ability and can one shot with a couple autos. I'd say Tryndamere is better, just because he can do a lot of things (like you said, split pushing), he can be a frontline tank with his R, etc.
My advice is play whoever you genuinely enjoy more. A lot of people may not like this advice, but this is a game, and you're supposed to enjoy it as much as possible. There's no real point in playing if you're not having fun.
If I had to pick between the two, I'd say stick with Kat since you've been playing her a lot recently (so you're currently used to her), and try to look up different guides / strategies / ask for tips on how to improve further. If you're getting fed, but struggling to end the game, it sounds like you need to change the way you go about things after that point.
Be more of a shot caller and try to get your team doing things together. It's also a good idea to help / ask for help to push a bit after a successful roam / gank, etc. The goal is to end the game as quickly as possible with Kat imo. She's really strong early/mid game, but falls off later on if she doesn't keep her lead, or is no longer able to blow people up / gets CC'd.

Literally anyone, but Katarina. Even bruiser Kat.

She mercilessly feeds in lane.
Then steal kills from her team.
Then gives shutdown gold.
Offers zero frontline/CC/survivability lategame.
All in all the worst champion in the game right now.
Never, ever Katarina. Yi and Tryn are much better at being relevant and not being feedlords.
play kat jungle, play kat top, play kat mid. PLAY KAT WHEREVER THEY DONT HAVE CC. and play Trynd when they do have CC.
