Should I still take TP top?

Since the nerf, I'm wondering if TP is still a viable option for top lane. Specifically, I usually play Swain, Ryze, or Maokai top. I've been away for a couple weeks, and finally coming back to the rift, so I'm still trying to catch up with you guys. Thanks for the help!

I still think it's viable top lane. Maybe not so much mid lane which became popular towards the end of the season though.

The nerf makes its have more Consequences Now it is still good for map presents backs door etc but now as tower are weaker and rift herold is a thing you have to use it more wisely that is if you use it to gank. As far as landing having usually gives you lvl advantage if you opponent does not have it and if you are a fast buyer you won't miss any cs

It's still the best go to choice for top lane, though Ignite and Exhaust are now both very viable options if you're looking to really shut someone down in lane.

Yes. TP is too valuable for presence around the map. Ignite is not really useful late game. Exhaust is, but your support will 9/10 times have it. TP allows you to to clear a lane that is shoving hard while your team is contesting an objective and still be able to be there. No one else can go do that except you. ADC goes bot to clear a wave at 40 minutes, you're giving Baron or Drag if they go top lane. You go bot to clear a wave, they have to think about whether you have TP and if they want to risk a fight.

Tl;dr. Take TP man. If you really want ignite/exhuast, drop flash. Hurt yourself before you hurt your team.

Not sure about swain. But Maokai want's TP because he's the teams engage, and can make use of TP ganks. And Ryze wants TP because he's a hyper carry, and wants to get back into lane. (even though that got nerfed)

Even though TP its weaker over all, and a weaker option is some cases. It does exactly what it's suppose to. Which is why I feel like it's still the best option for a top laner.

You absolutely need TP. If you are not absolutely stomping lane - not just a bit ahead, but absolutely stomping 10/0 while the enemy laner is 0/10 - TP is better than any possible alternative for non-Pantheon champs.

The reason is simple: your opponent can just build full tank even if behind and still be useful in a 5v4 while you're farming top.

Another reason: you are shutting down top and outtrading him? Now he backs, TPs back to lane with an item and the tables turn. You wanna back? He'll make all the missed CS back while you're gone.

TP is still good and you should take it you are comfortable with it because it CAN change the game. It's just requires more skill to use now because of the higher CD
