So what's going on with the new lore?

I know that this was announced last year, but I'm still curious about it. Riot said that they were changing the lore, in that the League, the Institute of War, and summoners and no longer canon. (Which I think is really dumb) But anyways, I'm still not too sure what the purpose of that was. I think I remember them saying that they wanted to expand the lore from what it was... But I haven't seen too much of that yet. Anyways, I miss the old lore. I miss the League, but I'm hoping that Riot can take this in the right direction sometime soon.

The Narrative Team is removing any mention of the IoW and League in general as they find that trying to explain how potential world destroying character #124 or why they would be in the League. To a degree, I can see why. However, the Narrative Team messed up big time by announcing all this before they had anything substantial to replace it with. As Jaredan and Bioluminescence have stated, they are apparently having big things in the works. Us peasants over in Story and Art are just frustrated having to wait for that stuff to come out Soon(tm). Doesn't help about comments from certain Rioters that they are splitting game and story (citation needed), and a lot of us think it's because they want more focus on LC$ and E-Sports, as that's where the money is. Also doesn't help that there is lackluster communication between the team and the community.

During my time here, I've had some talk with 2 Rioters; Jaredan and Carnival Knights on two different discussions. I would say, based on how it went, certain topics are cool for them to touch on, while others are more sensitive.

You're correct to say they called retcon way too soon, and probably they didn't know what to do when things started to take a turn for the worse (I'd have to admit, some comments made by some of the Reds here have stirred up rage on the forums.

This will fade in time, but we'll see.
