Riot , you're pretty damn well aware of the fact that lots of people invested a lot in runes . Like me for example , i've spent more IP on runes than on champions .
It's also good to know that you are trying to come out with a compensation for people who invested a lot of them . But please , if you come up with a solution/ some solutions , just give us a choice between :
Getting all the invested IP back , a part of the IP back + few champions/cosmetics etc or only champions/cosmetics .
This shouldn't include Rune pages bought with RP ofc , if you include it , than it's very likely for you to have some financial problems . Minor , but still .
This is a pretty simple solution , and a very easy one to do imo .

You have to remember they aren't doing this within the month but in a much later patch, so crying about how they do the 'refund' currently is kind of silly atm.

IP is ultimately just a resource from playing alot of matches, so unlike 'RP', it does not serve as much impact and will more then likely result in them taking a sort of 'tiered rewards' sort of list as a major thank you since they are not just outright saying they will refund IP, which could result in alot of people getting access to 5 to 20 more champions in a instant, since literally outside of 'chromas', we would have no other 'things' to get with IP beyond 'champion shards' and champions themselves.
It would be nice if they take an approach by granting 'vouchers' that let us pick skins of our choice of various tiers, probably the 'highest' being a few legendary, while said voucher could be used on multiple 'lower' skins (Ex. a 'legendary' voucher would also grant us the ability to grab a epic 1375~ skin instead along with a 'stock' of say 500 RP or so' or a coupon that could stack with another coupon to let us maybe get another epic skin or a lower tier skin).
It would be just as worthwhile of a nice thank you towards LoL players, without flooding them with a bunch of champions that they may not make use of or have difficulty in getting used to. Very least any RP used for say 'rune page purchases' will have to be direct refund definitely in that regard, its not like Riot would lose any money to refund players for RP they spent on a system that will be effectively removed and replaced with a free one.
