New Mastery Question

So quick Question because I'm not sure if I'm just being dumb or if I'm overthinking this. The first tier Ferocity has the choice between Attack speed on the left side and Ability damage on the right. Does this mean any ability? or just AP damage? but the way it's phrased makes it seem like that it enhances the damage of any ability (QWER) regardless of being AD or AP is that right?

It doesn't mater if it's ap or ad.

Don't mix things up.

AD vs AP is your scaling. Basic attacks vs Abilities is what you deal damage with. Physical vs Magical is your type of damage.

Usually, AD, Basic attacks and Physical go together, but there are plenty of exception. A lot of Assassins are AD but use mainly their Abilities. Corki is AD, but deals half Magic damage. Etc.

As for the mastery, it improves your abilities damage. Doesn't matter if you are AD or AP scaling, or if they deal physical or magical damage.

It's any ability because in this preseason, AD are allowed to benefit from all things while AP are not.

fun fact. most damage dealing abilities, be it physical damage or magical damage trigger spellvamp.

unless the ability counts as an empowered auto attack like gangplanks q.
