Yea he's got a real easy combo to force fights and he does well against other health stacker especially if they rely on auto attacks.
The combo is to open with taunt which trigger your shield passive to absorb the dmg from the taunted opponent and the taunt puts your opponent in between you and the spirit sword setting up an easy Q so they can either fight you while empowered or run away while slowed letting you get free dmg, if they fight put up your W
Old shen had an easier laning phase where you could play more passive (ranged targeted Q) but new shen has a lot more edge in fights, titanic hydra is core on him and with his damage mitigation being tied to his passive (which I'd reduced by hitting spells) and his W he feels a lot like like a dexterity based tank to me, so the more skilled you are the tankier you get.
His skill cap went up but he still does shen stuff, so the skills you had with old shen (like when to use ult and stuff) will still translate I think
