Just one thing bothering me with the approach of Item Sets

I'm all glad they "reconsidered" adding it on to-do list, but people shouldn't really get that excited about it. They haven't even started yet.

> Early in the client alpha we announced that we weren’t planning to rebuild the legacy client’s item set creator tool (although the updated client still supports custom item sets). Players passionately asked us to reconsider, so we did. We now intend to rebuild the item set creator tool,_ but haven’t yet started development work on it, so it could take quite some time_ even after we replace the legacy client. It’s back on our to-do list, but replacing the legacy client still comes first.

Dafuq did I just read? I thought you rework the legacy client (as in, update, readd and rework features legacy client had) and then add new features. What they are saying there is that Item Sets (which were part of legacy client) are not priority because they focus on reworking the legacy client (you know, with features like highlights which totally "were" part of legacy client).

Can we define what "reworking legacy client" means? Because saying feature that was part of legacy client isn't part of reworking legacy client while features that weren't parts of legacy client are part of reworking legacy client makes zero sense to me.

And yes, I appreciate they implemented Replays, Highlights (though I don't use these), Practice Tool and one sunny day reimplementated Personalized Shop (which I'd bet has priority), so I know I will sound like entitled bitch bitching about "details" here, but the reason behind Item Sets not being priority sounds dumb as fuck, so I needed to comment on it.

Rant off, moving on.

It's because back then they didn't classify item sets as a valid legacy feature because "no one used them." Now they're lumped with the "new features" in the priority list of stuff to get done.

I still don't understand why they cannot simply preserve item sets. I mean you can use them in legacy obviously, but I can live with always looking for items in the store. Other than that I often use recommended anyway. You're absolutely right and saying that only like 10% used it so its not a priority is just stupid in my opinion. Riot did make mistakes before but Item sets isnt too big of a deal.

The new client isn't a reworked client, but built from the ground up. They can't preserve the old item set creator because it's simply not compatible with the new software. Thus it also needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

What Riot said was the item sets themselves are compatible. Meaning that item sets created in the legacy client will still work in the new client. But they have to rebuild the creator from the ground up.
