Are Ranked Games even meaningful?
Like, seriously. I play almost exclusevly normals, and I commonly encounter
- afk players
- players already announcing in champ select that their ping is high but refuse to dodge and fix their shit, then feeding because of latency and as a lame excuse spam their ping into the chat like low IQs (is that polite enough to pass any Golden Board Rules? :) )
- players int feeding because they are frustrated and think this would serve justice in some weird way
- players feeding kills after kills after kills to the enemy, most games having a clear tendency around 10 mins and are unrecoverably lost at 15 mins
- furthermore feeders in your team ruining every tiny win chance, but refuse to surrender and take you hostage (could argue about surrendering in ranked though, but why dragging on a game that could be won with a 2% chance, if you could be already queueing for a game with a 50+% chance?)
- feeders having so much more impact than carry players that it is literally impossible to compensate for bad teammates' feed
And I could continue this list for ages. I started S7 and really looked forward to get into ranked this season, but seriously, no. The imbalanced impact of feeders vs. carries and the shitty snowbally state of the game (not even mentioning Riot ruining towers a little more with every x patch) really makes Ranked totally unattractive. I do not feel that whatever rank I will achieve would reflect my actual skill. To be clear, this is not a whining thread. Often enough, the enemy has the feeders and we stomp then, but this is still due to the state of the game being totally unhealthy and making Ranked games more of a RNG game.
Now you might say "but if Rank was random, why are all pro players D1/Master/Challenger?" The answer is: Because they play a lot, and are like perfectly skilled. Both are features the vast majority of the playerbase will never even get remotely close to achieve.
What is your opinion? Why do you play Ranked?
