Why is this still a thing?
Duo in soloq.
Duo in soloq.
No idea.
For bot lane, I'd assume, as a supp main, a good adc is hard to come by while trying to climb. Something's can only be done with a real partner
Probably especially useful since ADC and support are pretty common roles to be autofilled.
That's the point. It's clearly an unfair advantage.
If you want to group. Go flex.
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, GO JON OLIVER
Yes, but bot lane typically feeds the most as they are forced to work together throughout the game, with no solo laning phase. As such it is more important to have the opportunity for proper synergy than just getting a lucky match.
And yet most Duos are not bot lane groups. I commonly see ADC/MID TOP/Jungle Top/Support
Yes maybe they Qed as Support/ADC and Jungle/Top and only one of them got bot lane.
But it messes with things.
So what? I always queue up with a friend of mine. We are always friendly and do well together, not sure about other duos though.
meh, it's fine, If two people are better at working together, then I don't think it is as big a deal, as compared a full team going LCS on your ass. Lol is a team game, after all. Even though Flex Queue has its own problems (boosting), it's unlikely that Riot believes that having a duo partner is a bad idea. I'm pretty sure they developed flex/dynamic queue based on consistent positive reception to duo queue over 5 years. Apparently, actual teamwork is not the point of the game, instead it's the ability to solo carry a game that makes ranked fun to most people. Anything that gets in the way of that either has to be nerfed or removed right? I feel like many people perform better when they know someone has their back; a feeling that no one EVER communicates in ranked. It's always a pretty negative, 'you died once, I report you' or constant chat spam (which can be muted), essentially gives a person the confidence to play better. While it may hurt people who'd like league to only be solo, that's not the point of a 5v5 map. The most common scenario in solo ideal is everyone is god at their champion and happen to work together somehow. Duo makes it a bit easier to pull off some really fun combos and plays that you wouldn't be able to do with random people.
Duo can EASILY be boosting. I promise. I can do it.
Admittedly, I have done it (that is, duo'd with people below me in skill, and brought them up to a tier they wouldn't be able to reach alone).
Edit: It wasn't a positive response in regards to duo over 5 years. I was there. People HATED duo groups. Then they introduced Flex as an attempt to improve on the issues, and all that ire got saturated and forgotten by pure flame.
Duo is a problem in a solo environment. People have been asking for years for a real solo queue. Now is the perfect time to make that happen. Have two distinct queues. One for groups, one for when you're alone. This will also drive down queue times, dramatically, for both.

In that case, Riot should just make a 1v1 map and 'pure solo' people can rank there. I think it's pretty stupid that people want to play a team building game as a solo player, complain when other people team up, and then want to have good team mates, who are random, and still have a fun experience. The idea that there is a soloQ on a 5v5 map was already weird to me.
I agree ENTIRELY.
Like. Seriously. Entirely.
I was very very satisfied with Flex Queue being the only queue.
HOWEVER. If we're going to have all these angry people forcing Riot to create two separate queues, then they should create two separate queues, and not half-ass it as they are.
Commit.
SoloQ for the people that want a "solo" experience, and Flex for everyone who wants groups (like me, mind you). Man up Riot. Do it right.
