Reinventing Silence

Just thought of this now, mostly in regards to my thinking of a mana draining champion (feel free to look it up and discuss it on the skins & champion concepts section, I'd love to hear ya'lls thoughts).

As I seem to recall, Silence in League pretty much meant you couldn't use 1) Abilities, 2) S. Spells, and 3) Items. I can see why Riot came down hard on it, especially as it was on assassin champs.

With pretty much every other champion in this game having some form of CC, and a bulk of those with stuns, snares, or roots, I think Silence needs to make a come back into the League, but with a major adjustment.

To be effective and not completely broken, I think Silence should only affect abilities. An opponent should still have the ability to activate items and use S. Spells (if they have them). This way, let's say that Talon had his silence back. He could still pop in and stop the enemy from using abilities, but they could have a better chance of either getting away or activating an item to help them survive the fight or use the item to run away. Now, there are a lot of items and scenarios to consider, and I'm honestly not asking for Talon's silence to be restored lol. I just think that, while I'm playing the League of Crowd Control Legends, it would be nice to shut them up without stopping all of their options as a player.

What do ya'll think, would changing Silence to only affect abilities be a viable option? Or is it simply too OP, even though every champ and their mum has a snare to stop you from moving so you can explode in 2 seconds. I think Riot's idea of removing silence from assassins is good. But then again, LB and Talon lost a major part of their kit... And while your silence is better, it still doesn't offer true counterplay for the mages that are silenced. :/

wait.. i'm pretty sure i've seen people using qss to get rid of silences. so they could always buy qss to get rid of Talons silence. i mean they do that for zed. why not for Talon? i personally have used qss a silence from garen so i know it works. but people kept whining about 1 second silence on a champ that he had no escapes and that its core on his kit. leblanc can survive without it. she has W and can mimic it with her ult. kassadin has lots of mobility. talon has nothing. his stealth is unreliable due to pink wards and red trinket. actually stealth in League sucks. mobility is way better. I think zed's W is better than Talons stealth. so Talon pretty much has nothin without his silence. the moment he E's a malzahar he will die. vayne will push him. lissandra will ult him. so is syndra, i mean those are targeted abilities. the easiest spells in the game. and without silence on talon all i see is not Talon as an assassin. assassins are supposed to counter mages. but right now mages counter talon by a long shot xD haha he is so bad right now

Silence should just halt mobility abilities, like a root that allows unassisted movement. Allows for counter-attack, but halts escape.

Stun is a full disable. Fear is a full disable. Blind stops AA. Root stops movement and Flash and dashes and such. Silence stops all casts, all item use and all summoner spells.

Blind, Root and Silence are all just smaller parts of Stun.

However yes, Silence I think blocks too much. I think it should block player casts, item casts (but not potions or Mikael's), and ONLY the Ignite spell. I think it would be fine to allow flashing away from a Silence. It still pops their Flash which is a decent trade. And they can still use Barrier.
