Uh, Why does Zyra never run out of mana?
I'm serious, why? [zombie-brand-mindblown] I've never seen anyone spam so many spells yet never run out of juice. She might not be op per se but the mana management on her seems disgusting.

When mana potions were removed, riot made changes to mana and mana regen. Basicaly: Mages got bigger mana pools and supports got better mana regen. Since Zyra's most played role was support, Riot assumed people liked her there so they considered her as a support and buffed her mana regen. Now that she is strong enough to go mid (wich is actualy where most players want her), she can just buy a doran and increase her already super good base mana regen.

Because her Q used to start at 75 mana and scale to 95 mana per cast, and now it's 60 at all ranks without any change to her regen buff from preseason. In exchange they nerfed its range, nerfed its damage to 180 from 210, and nerfed its AP ratio to .55 from .65. Another reason is because of the flat mana and level-up regen on Lost Chapter. Then late game because of the kill/assist regen on Morello. Then there's Meditation on top of that if they spec into it.
I think her mana consumption is balanced around the fact that her spells deal extremely low damage for a mage. Zyra's entire ability combo (EQWR) has the same base damage and only slightly higher scaling than Karma's empowered Q by itself. In general, her base damage is only about 2/3 of most mages, and her total AP ratio is only 1/2-2/3 of most mages.
So you're correct that she can be pretty spammy with spells (cooldowns permitting) without mana trouble. A lot of better Zyras will rank E before Q, and the mana cost on E does scale from 70-90. You can run oom fairly quickly if you poke with E, but that's not usually happening.

zyra is still gated by mana. when i play her i only use spell to harass in lane and do i final push so i can back. its really about mana management at that point.
