Super Necessary Gnar Buff

Friendly Ram··112 votes·11,693 views

You all know what our favorite yordle is missing?

Hats he needs more hats. So here is my proposed buff for gnar. Whenever he kills a champ with a piece of headgear he steals it and puts it on top of his head (up to 5 hats max). Gnars emotes(taunts, laugh, joke and back) are now global for that champion. Upon death gnar loses all hats.

This is an amazing idea but Valve would probably sue us for copyright infringement were we to implement it.

You have a skin literally named "bowser rammus."

Starcall Casey15 votes

not sure that you know what "literally" means.

PaladinNO2 votes

He's got a valid point: the skin IS called Bowser Rammus, but Rito were just formal and used the title instead of the name. King Bowser Rammus would be the full name with title. Only thing I'm not sure of is the difference between Koopa and Bowser, or whether that's just a regional thing.

Bolwinkel5 votes

It's called King Rammus.... Not Bowser Rammus....

PaladinNO1 votes

Did you read my full post or just the first sentence? It is a clear reference to Bowser, and he's called King Bowser (or Koopa). Hence, like I had an attempt at making sound funny, King Bowser Rammus.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowser_(character)

EDIT: Okay, so research shows his full name is actually "King Bowser Koopa". Or in League's case: "King Bowser Koopa Rammus". Personally, I prefer his alias, "Mr. OK", though. But King OK also works.

It's still the same thing.

It is a clear reference to Bowser

Literally is still the wrong word...

PaladinNO1 votes

Well, technically you are right; literally means the exact same, and the name Bowser Rammus is not the same name as King Rammus.

Damn, and I thought I was a linguistic freak. xD

But actually, it is all irrelevant, because King Rammus is not available for purchase (if it ever were), nor is it relevant to this thread, as Rammus is not Gnar. And to my knowledge, there has been no copyright lawsuits over the name King Rammus due to its similarities to Bowser Koopa.

Well his only point was that literally is the wrong word, you started about that Bowser rammus stuff, I'm just reinforcing his point, tbh I couldnt care less about grammar but it came up so...

PaladinNO1 votes

Well his only point was that literally is the wrong word

Yes, which I agreed to, and followed up with further explaining the point of why Bowser and Koopa and King Rammus is literally (pun intended) the same thing.

Yeah...? I already know this. I've said it is a reference to Bowser, and was handed out to the LoL beta testers.

Now you do....

PaladinNO1 votes

That a joke? I can't prove when I learned this (duh), but I read about that skin and details surrounding its existence a long time ago. Mid-late 2014, if I were to guess.

When I first considered a skin for Rammus, I wanted to know which ones he had - and subsequently why his King skin wasn't available for purchase.

Bolwinkel1 votes

Why are you getting so defensive over me correcting a simple mistake like the name of it?

PaladinNO1 votes

Because it doesn't matter what the name is - whether it's Bowser Rammus or King Rammus, it's still a reference to the main antagonist in the Super Mario franchise!

I meant it as a joke, and not looking to spur a full-on linguistical argument about insignificant details.

Is the King Rammus skin a reference to Super Mario? Is Bowser the main antagonist in Super Mario? Does it matter if King Rammus is called King or Bowser Rammus?

I don't think it matters, and I don't care if it does!

I am done with this discussion.

Don't worry. Valve isn't capable of filing lawsuits because they can't even count to 3.

THE best Half-Life 3 pun I have seen in a long time!

...Just a pity I can only upvote it once - tried doing it more times, until aQQ showed up on my screen, saying "so sad...you are not authorized". :'(

You sure? Thought I saw something the other day about an accidental leak from Valve with a folder labeled "L4D3."

PaladinNO3 votes

Shouldn't be a problem - the Chinese have had copyright lawsuits against them before, but the suing party lost the case. ;)

So, when are we going to see Safecracker Draven, throwing crowbars instead of axes?

Should be a doddle merging these two splash arts, right?

I already see the skin name: DRAAAAAAAAAVEN Freeman!

So there's a champ in dota2 that already does that? What's the champs name?

It's a TF2 joke.

Have you seen the Smite skins? They haven't been sued yet. At least, not that I've heard of.

LordGeovanni1 votes

what about the smite skins not that i think that you can copyright gods of different cultures

revliledpembroke1 votes

I mean Psycho Mantis Ah Muzen Cab, Cthulu Ah Muzen Cab, Ghostbuster Zhong Kui, Gundam Wing Thor, Warhammer 40K (I think) Amaterasu, Lady Gaga Aphrodite (for defamation/use of likeness without permission, not copyright), and quite a few others that aren't coming to mind.

It's worth the risk, just do it.

Gnar main here. This is a crucial part of his thematics and kit that needs to be implemented ASAP.

In all seriousness, this sounds like something that would need to be part of an ultimate skin. It's incredibly difficult to pull off in the programming, and I doubt Riot would go through that much for just a small update.

TheSlogs5 votes

Unfortunately with spaghetti code I don't think they can. They couldn't make it so that pool party Taric ult puts sunglasses on everyone, so I don't think they could do it for Gnar.

This isn't to say I don't want it, I am a Gnar main after all.

Friendly Ram3 votes

Ah. I just could imagine gnar with cait hat olaf helment teemo hat leo helmet and syndra helmet all balanced on his head.

he should be buffed where he cant perma slow targets

Friendly Ram1 votes

Mini has one slow and mega has two? What is permaslowing you?

DarthSpectrum2 votes

Frozen mallet I think. Many Gnars are building that item to kite melee champions now.

It helps against champions like Olaf or Darius, but champions with dashes still makes short work of him.

Friendly Ram1 votes

I generally build steraks now instead of mallet. But yeah i get where hes coming from now.

Atanchan1 votes

Ignoring the fact that you missed the point of the topic entirely, how do you buff something by taking away a strength? That's literally the exact opposite of a buff.

Time422 votes

And I thought Gnar couldn't get any more adorable... how wrong I was xP
