Riot needs to learn to not ban based on opinions.

If you want to ban someone at least use facts to do it. getting banned based on opinions is really stupid.

What else would you base it on? The whole point of banning is to remove (or change the behavior of) the people who ruin the experience for others, which is an entirely subjective thing.

I wouldn't even really say that Riot bans based on opinions, but rather on data of their customers' opinion on what they consider negative (and punishable) behaviour. Saying Riot bans based on opinions is like saying marketing campaigns or social sciences are based on opinions. Strictly speaking it's not wrong, but it's also kind of misleading.

The material you posted was definitely NSFW, and was linked from a definitely NSFW website, so there's little room for confusion to be had; it wasn't a personal opinion that resulted in the content being removed and you being banned, it was due to that sort of mature content not being allowed on these boards.

If you'd like more insight on why that particular content was deemed inappropriate, you're invited to speak with the moderators that removed it on the Moderation Discord.

Why do people keep assuming since it's from a mature site that the content is mature? It was just a visual pun. also the ticket i got back said it was due to rape imagery(which didn't exist.

Do have a specific example that would narrow the subject? Because it's pretty vague to say that Riot bans based on opinions.

Everything behavioral related can be, "an opinion". But removing players that are making the game extremely un-enjoyable for others is not a foreign concept. Every establishment will often deny service if you are causing problems for other customers because of your behavior.

i got board banned for posting a joke about tristy getting caught with her pants down and getting ping spammed. one moderator decided that equated to rape and gave me a 10 day ban.

An inappropriate joke is probably a good enough reason to get a board ban. The board is viewed by everyone, so any link that points to a NSFW image or site doesn't belong.

What Nazis believe is an opinion. What white supremacists believe is an opinion. What Westboro Baptist Church believes is an opinion. Opinions are completely reasonable reasons to ban people, most especially if those opinions are fueled by hatred.

No, people should be banned for clearly breaking guidelines, not because of someone else's opinion on their post.

That video is about people wanting to censor public discord and opinions, not just everywhere

riot games is a privately owned company that is not used to be a public forum. So they are allowed to treat discussion in the same way a house owner treats discussion in it's own house.

and like a lot of house owners that have guest, if you are in here to offend people, you get kicked out.

That is why I disagree with the use of that video in this context.
