So ekko is just the short range version?
Sad part is that this new suggested title does fit a lot of champs like Lux, Xerath and Ziggs fairly well since they all have hard hitting abilities which if they land all of them on you will usually be enough to kill a squishy. Lux I can understand to some degree expecially since her mana costs are still fairly high with no good way to get mana back but Xerath and Ziggs don't have that kind of mana issue gating their potential to the same degree and seem to spam abilties without any major down sides.
A mage has weaker but more consistent damage output examples are ryze and Cass whom both have to chain a fair number of abilities to kill someone but are able to chain a fair number of abilities.
If Ziggs and Xerath were to be made into proper mages they would need shorter cooldowns on some abilities but also have those abilities base damage and Ratios nerfed a bit as well.
Example of such an ability change would be Xerath's Arcanopulse having a 4 second cooldown but with 60/95/130/165/200 + .6AP and weaker slow of about 25% down from the current 50% slow with perhaps a lower overall mana cost on it as well of say 60/70/80/90/100. Basiucally having to spam the ability more then once to kill a creep wave but having the option to spam the ability more often.
and old Veigar (new one is a weird mix of short and long) aren't really long ranged...
