Melee feels like a fake and outdated "weakness"

I feel like this is true for juggernauts and many of the commonly-hated melee champs (Yasuo, Riven). There are so many mobile champs with kits overloaded because being melee is perceived as a large "weakness" when it's not the case anymore. It's almost like champions are balanced like they're Poppy-status because they can barely farm without being harassed to death, when it actually almost always feels like ranged champs are at a disadvantage.

Being melee is a HUGE weakness. Like, it is indescribably huge. It is a weakness the size of mt. everest.

The only way you overcome this HUGE weakness is by having insanely OP stats and abilities i.e. Fiora.

the problem is that a lot of champions have kits that overcompensate for the weakness of being melee

i'm sure any avid top laner that's had to lane vs. vayne/quinn will tell you that it's still one of the worst experiences just because of how much they exploit the advantage they have over melee champions

couldn't agree more. Also, i have notice the riot favors AP champions over AD ones for the most part.

Like Ekko. He has to get close to you. That's how my friends describe his weakness.

Being melee is a weakness during the laning phase, after that its not so much, but if melee champs didnt have such strong kits then quinn/vayne top would be even more popular, and its already nearly impossible to lane against a ranged champ in top lane as a melee champ.
