First of all, this post mostly contains my season 5 / early season 6 experience. I barely play ranked nowadays, only to keep my rank from resetting - once a month, and other time i play league its RGM.
I never had fun as "traditional" supports. My biggest problem is probably warding. I hate stepping off the line to place a ward. I hate spending money on wards or sightstone. Its because in my opinion, supports are those who protect allies/disrupt enemies in first place. Nor the warding bots, not the initiators. I used to buy sightstone as my 3rd-4th-5th item on champions and upgrading trinket to purple ward in season 5. With the removal of pink trinket upgrade i just use basic trinket as my warding tool.
For champions i use mostly AP mages with utility. Soraka, Nami, Zilean, Karma, Morgana, Zyra are pretty much my core support champions. Usually i rush CDR/AP items. In some builds on i used to rush ROA for heavy mana spenders like zil or nami. Another kinda viable mana option is Dark Seal, without upgrading to mejai. And i always have my fun, because dealing reasonable chunk of damage to enemies even if you cant kill them feels good.
But for me, most freaking reason i hate when i play support is people telling you what to do. "Ward here", "Buy wards", "No wards". I think thats the main reason i feel so pissed off if i play traditional supports. Even if you ward, you never ward enough, and you are to blame for that. I love playing safe and supporting my team, but all those dorks think that they know better about everything. I thinks thats the way i came to playing this champs.
Also in season 4 or early 4 i used to duo with one friend of mine. God it was great to be one actually leading my carry. Thats the experience of real support action. Never forget.
