Under the radar disadvantage of being a OTP

I am a OTP Aatrox and i own Mecha Aatrox skin, with level 7 masteries. +1000 games on many accounts.

And besides of other well known disadvantages of being a OTP,** i think there is one going "under the radar"** :

Having the rarest/ultimate/legendary skin on your main champion, and having a good KDA/Winratio with high mastery, could mean that the entire enemy will be more aware of your presence in both lane (especially) and teamfights.

Thus, expect the enemy team to work harder than usual (being aware of the fact you could mean serious business), trying to shut you down. One of the downsides of being an Aatrox main is the fact that i rely on snowball potential. Meaning that i have to play aggressive from the start. This makes me very vulnerable to ganks, if my jungler doesn't put pressure on enemy jungler.

After reaching level 7 masteries, I just had a series of 4 games, where i was ganked non stop by every possible opponent , EVEN in hard lanes vs. Teemo with Ignite/Malphite/Jax. And i'm not talking about the kind of gank where i sit under their tower, i mean being fucking dived under my own tower with passive up by a TF ult+ Malphite ult + Kindred 3-man gank. All those games ended with very bad KDA. Though, every other lane lost their matc-ups, but that's not a pretty big excuse.

Then, i've played on another account, the same ELO (High plat), without any Aatrox match history, skins of masteries. Suddenly, the enemy top laner made mistake after mistake, underconsidering me, trying to come back after unwinnable (for them) 1v2's, etc.

So, my advice for OTP's :

You can't hide match history unfortunately, but:

0).Never commit to 1v1's (overcommit = ussing everything you have in your kit - even flash, for slight chance of kill) , but just focus on safe farm, when you don't have ABSOLUTE vision of your lane (1 ward in tri-bush it's not ABSOLUTE vision).

Absolute vision = seeing enemy jungler somewhere on bot lane 5 secs ago Having every other enemy laners in their lanes No Twisted Fate & Shen LVL 6 with ults UP. 2 wards at least in your lane.

1).If you have a high mastery with your champion: never CTRL+6 in front of your enemy early game, showing them you master the champion.Let them "try you out" to see if you know your champion well or not.

2).Avoid to play with skin, if you really want to maximize your advantages. I know, this sound absurd, and there are lots of "sell skin" write on chat, but, ask yourself when you're going to see the enemy having DJ Sona skin. Would you consider him a master of that champion ,or not ?

3).Keep calm as much as you can, after you get targeted from the beggining to the end of the game and don't start the "idc, it's lost anyway" bandwagon. Don't try to fight enemy 1v1, and especially don't overcommit.

When a "babysit" it's about to happen, they will surely try to "bait" you, thinking "Ok, This Teemo annoyed me all game, he is under 30% in front of me i can kill him. Absolutely NOT, a high ELO player is exactly what you want to think. Then you commit, and suddenly from the bush a Nidalee spear. GG, report our jungler.

4). You are a OTP. You have thousands of games. You know your every match-up, what skill to MAX, what item to start/build. Basically, if you're on the same skill as your enemy opponent, and he isn't a OTP on that champion, you can't be beaten 1v1. You know what it's missing here ? A premade jungler... BELIEVE ME, if you have a good one, your KDA and winrate will skyrocket. Especially for counter-jungling situations. You are getting babysited ? Don't worry, your jungler, with your coordination will: a). Fuck over the other 2 lanes b). Take other objectives / counter jungling CS c). You are pushing the enemy hard > meaning a gank is possibly soon. Your jungler comes, and you either dive if you have potential or enjoy a surprise 2v2 countergank.

My respect to dedicated OTP's.

every other lane lost their match ups is no excuse

That is a gigantic excuse if you're getting 3 man ganked your team should get an objective or do a dive themselves otherwise it is pretty much gg. It means that your team is getting stomped 4 v 2, they have no idea how to play the game!!

What you're describing is just Aatrox in general. He's a very aggressive laner therefore jungler does want to do ganks on you. You should just ward carefully especially against decent junglers most often you just engage at unfortunate times. A jungler typically sits for 10-20 seconds preparing a gank before he goes off back or to farm or somewhere else. Besides that sitting top as a jungle is usually not the best strategy because you do want dragon unless its a cloud dragon.

What you're describing is more like top in general not one trick ponying :D.

I don't really need premade jungle, I'm main top and almost every loss that I have are from bot lane feeding and sometimes jungler is bad and that's a loss as well. I lost almost no games due to mid, mid's influence this season is probably the least of all lanes. But bot lane is bad around 70% of my losses jungler 25% and mid laner 5%.

Stomps are stomps and they are out of your control in 0/10 bot lane in min 10 situations. What i'm talking about is balanced situations, where enemy team has map control spells (TF mid/Shen ult/Rek'sai Jungle) etc. You overcommiting 24/24 because you are tilted, it's not gonna help the situation.

There are little details that can win/lose games, and people underestimate them.

Mind one thing : Usually, the OTP are overconfident. At least that's how i feel in many situations.

What you're describing is just a common mistake that you find yourself (and usually other tops) making. If enemy has a TF you will want your mid to ward the entrance to top otherwise you can't really commit to anything if you play a rather squishy hero like Aatrox (with something like Maokai or Sion you can survive the gank with flash often).

A little detail that gets underestimated from my experience on top is the teleport ganks, and when to use teleport to get back to lane. Even forcing a teleport can be a great thing because that means your bot lane can place a deep ward and you can do a gank giving a double + dragon which is a massive early advantage for your team. This gets underestimated a lot and I've won quite a lot of games due to this. But you also got to know when to do this. You don't want to tp if you would lose a lot of wave experience unless you're 100% sure you get a double kill (otherwise you will be behind in level, your gank is not succesful and the enemy team just got an advantage).

But try to read enemy jungle patterns it is very important to know them when to apply aggression. If you see their jungler ganking mid or bot you can apply aggression freely if the minion wave allows it. I can't really give you a clear answer on this without going into very specific situations.

2).Avoid to play with skin, if you really want to maximize your advantages. I know, this sound absurd, and there are lots of "sell skin" write on chat, but, ask yourself when you're going to see the enemy having DJ Sona skin. Would you consider him a master of that champion ,or not ?

Personally, if I see anyone playing DJ Sona, I assume they got boosted and their real rank is somewhere around bronze 5. Seeing as Sona hasn't been a playable character since patch 4.13 and DJ was released after that, this is a dead-to-rights clear indication the player has a severe lack of both understanding of game balance as well as money management. As such, I spend the entirety of the game farming the Sona-shaped minion each time they leave base and just ride the freelo of playing against an enemy that doesn't belong in my game.

In a way, I'd say this still supports the logic of the advice you're giving here. If you see a player on a shit champ and they own an expensive skin for said shit champ, it becomes all the more apparent to enemy players that they can be easily taken advantage of for their lack of skill & common sense.
