Best Mids and Sleeper Champs (Mid)

Hi all and thanks for taking the time.

Like the title implies.

Who are the best mid lane Champs right now?

I main Fizz but would like to branch out.

Also, I'd like to gather some thoughts on some sleeper champs. Some champs I could pull from deep in the pool to surprise other summoners and maybe carry some games with unexpected sources.

Talon is insane, although a lot of people know that. He gets banned a decent amount but I think he's worth picking up anyway.

I'm a classic high-energy battle mage guy. Xerath and Vel'Koz aren't meta but they can be pretty powerful.
