I recently picked up lulu around 2 months ago and had nothing to make me feel like she was out of line. But in this most recent patch she has now become pick or ban, but why? What exactly changed for her to become so strong?
just like tabis, people are realizing it shuts down hyper mobile threats with point and click cc.
The meta gods has chosen lulu to be the chosen one.
It might be because the ADCs have gotten better.
Why protect a

4000 units away from a teamfight when you could pick things like

Now that you got 420 blaze it champs that go IN you might want to help protect them.
A couple things all came together for her.
7.2 Buffs were pretty nice
Lethality got nerfed, bringing back more attack speed oriented carries that can use Pix better.
Adcs that are meta now have to get much closer than lethality Varus and Jhin had to get, making the value of shields for them higher.
Buffs from 7.2. More damage on Pix, and lower mana costs on Q
Also with her ult, shield, and redemption/locket build, she can protect her carry extremely well.
Lemme see...
Unless her ADC is Ezreal or Corki, Lulu can pretty much work with just about anyone.
Meta, unless the mana cost buff and 6 or so extra damage on Pix pushed her over the edge
