I now know how old Poppy, Galio and Sion mains feel.

I always thought it really sucked have one of your favorite champs to completely be changed. But I had no idea of how bad that feeling was until the Urgot rework. The feeling of having a champion that you love playing be completely erased and replaced with one that only really shares the same name and a few traits. I loved played old Urgot. I know he wasn't super popular but the new one plays nothing like him. At least Poppy kept her wall stun and kept the ult that removes one player (or players) from the fight concept but made it more healthy.

The new urgot has nothing that the old urgot had besides a sheild on his W and a suppression on his ult that does not even work unless he is going to kill the enemy. Is the new urgot healthier? Yes. He has a lot more counter play to him in lane besides "don't get hit by e or stay 1400 units away." Everything about the urgot is telegraphed while the old one could just flash ult the enemy adc to the middle of his team.

I don't really know what I wanted to say with this post. Besides venting my frustration about one of my favorite champions being replaced by something that isn't him, but only shares his name.

My greatest fear as an Evelynn player.

I couldn't care less about her ult, but I love her auto-targetting Q that can be used to chasing or retreating, and her rapid on-hit application with E.

I hope she keeps these two abilities mostly in tact (like if E was a rapid four-hit combo sticking to the opponent like Warwick's new Q), as well as her burst movement with W.

And this is why I hate Riot's stance on reworks. A rework should NOT, and should NEVER be, a new champion in the skin of an old one.

Warwick, I feel, is the only rework that encapsulated everything Warwick had, and made is more fun, interactable and better in every way. It feels like a rework tailored by someone who actually played the champion, and understood the champion's fantasy. Poppy's rework, I don't feel was all that bad, she never had much to work with that could exist now.

Taric no longer looks like his old incarnation, a gem knight clad in armour laced with crystals using a hammer and shield. Even removed his memorable lines. Urgot no longer has the identity of his old incarnation, or the playstyle of an anti-marksman artillery canon. Looks like Bane, rather than a patchwork abomination. Galio isn't the anti-mage/AP assassin buster that he used to be, the pocket pick against the likes of Veigar and Kassadin. Sion isn't the goofy zombie anymore.

I dread the day the rest of my favourites get massacred. RIP Taric.

Swain is my only Mastery VII and my pocket pick that gave me Gold V for Season 4 and Season 6. Knowing he is about to get a huge rework on the scale of Urgot is very scary.

I really don't know what to expect except : Prepare myself to lose my main. Even my bed pillow is from the splash art of Tyrant Swain -.-

No matter how bad I am in ranked ( I tend to tilt alot, I admit it and I assume my 47% Winrate Silver III lol), my Swain always got a 60%+ Winrate and my best KDA. Could always do a comeback when I did poorly in lane and no matter how much Riot keeps claiming that Swain is a ''Fail or Snowball'' champ. The only merit I can get is that Riot said he is OP only in the right hands and I can do it consistently since Season 3 (I Grinded Silver I with +1/+3 LP gain when they had the clamping system... Reached 99 LP from 0 that way playing Mainly Swain)

So yeah, I'm scared to feel that way. I know I'm about to lose the last Untouched of my Favorite champs (Cassio, Brand, Malz, Swain). I just claim myself lucky they did a partial ''hidden'' revert on Malz by shifting power from Voidlings to the rest of his kit like the old Malz. At least I got one my Fav champs back.

I Might be able to reach Gold V one last time using Swain before his major rework...

I can be sympathetic with this to a point.

Everything you have described as what you enjoyed about Urgot were the things that made him toxic to begin with.

From everything you say, it almost seems to me that you actually didn't care about Urgot, you only cared about his kit, in which case, you shouldn't have much of a problem with Malzahar. He has a point and click suppression.

Urgot's theme and fantasy was enhanced so dynamically with his update, so saying he is "not Urgot" is simply untrue. He plays differently after his update, sure. But the concept and fantasy is the same.

Galio and Poppy's biggest offenses were copping out on the characters to make them appeal to youth. I get why, I'm just not a youth and I'm salty.

On the other hand, were people really offended by Sion leaving? They replaced a shitty Arnold Schwarzenegger rip off with a hardcore zombie war machine. The kit went from being toxic garbage to being almost sublimely balanced. Seriously, old Sion may have been great to stomp with but he was toxic to the core-- bad scaling, bad skill synergy, bad theme overall. Point-and-click stuns on 80% AP and shields on 80% AP are not things that fit with that iteration of League. (Ironically, they might not feel as scary now.)

Seriously, I want to know, are Sion mains really jilted about that particular update?

All those reworks were great though... especially Galio's rework.

At least Urgot didn't get his look completely destroyed like Poppy, Galio and Sion (Poppy and Sion were ugly tho).

I still love Sion's change to this day. Sure old AD Sion was fun but felt like just playing a Tryndamere. Easily kited so would have probably been best to split push. Though back then split pushing was considered HERESY! AP Sion was bull shit and everyone who seen or played it knows it. Given into a trained hands and he basically won lane without any remorse. Shield, stun, kill or deny creeps, repeat, win.

I loved Poppy's changes right up until that nerf to her passive made her clunky. Sion is suppose to be the clunky one, not her. Now she's basically back to her old self, op when playable or useless.

Galio's changes was great until once again nerfed to the ground. He's just like Shen now, only playable in LCS. Though I know one of the three Galio mains whom still loves the rework to bits and pieces. Though the rework was done to his playstyle and changed to fit him perfectly.

Having said all that I can understand the pain of someone's main getting changed. I miss old Sejuani to death. This new one is nothing like her. Old Sej wasn't a Leona jungle stun bot. She didn't rely on team mates heavily. She also lead the charge and was tanky all the time, especially when fighting. Now she is super squishy when her passive is down. She has to basically hope someone else whom is melee to initiate. Top it off her late game fantasy is completely destroyed. She was that tank you didn't want to face on the enemy team if late game arrived, even as a hyper carry. Now she is completely shut down with Mercurial Scimitar. Zed got a boon to have his ultimate not get removed from that item so he wasn't nullified from the game. Well Sejuani now gets nullified from that item. Takes forever to build up her stun only to get removed with a click of a button.

I'll forever miss old Sejuani, R.I.P. girl R.I.P.

I don't understand how you think Poppy kept anything either. Her role has completely changed, and saying her ult is similar at all makes no sense.

You forgot Soraka in the list. No more mana restoring, Mr shredding, or armor buffs. Can't even heal minions to tank tower long or to mess up enemy trying to last hit.

I'm in this boat since I disliked the Talon rework. (mainly the loss of fast burst, blink, aoe ult and the addition of a disgusting 'every 3rd' passive)
