Lane Strategy, and how do I jungle?

First question- how do I jungle? I know nothing of this concept except that I am expected to gank lanes. Whenever I start, I can never kill a camp solo- ever. So....how do I do this "jungling" thing? Seems fun =D, just....??????????

Lane Strategy concept- I try to play Champions that have skillshots because they usually have longer range OR great effects (Jinx W, Ahri E, Heimerdinger W, E, R). Second question- when I hit level 6, should I push my minions into the tower and go gank another lane real quick? I can do that on Karthus, Jinx, and Ashe with no problem (those are the ones I own that have a Ult that can hit from anywhere on the field to anywhere else on the field). Currently I am heavily maining into Ahri and Jinx (the former because the engage/disengage is fantastic (though Karthus is starting to look way more fun), the latter because Super Mega Death Rocket is too fun to use to push a lane OR (as I have done a few times) smack into the middle of the enemy team when they ball up and watch your BT give you a big heal and big shield- so....

Ahri- Whenever I mid and hit 6, I try to gank the other player (of course) and have a ~60% success rate or else they use recall and I knock the first tower. Should I be doing that? Or should I just keep hanging out until I see an easy kill?

Jinx- I use Pow-Pow to get my CS (very effective) and I use Zap to pressure the other bottom laners. Usually this results in jungler trying to gank me OR , if the jnglr is busy, me pushing the other two laners so far back that they fall behind on levels. Again, I hit lvl 6 and try to gank. Good plan, bad plan?

Heimerdinger- ....um.......T-T he's the perfect troll......

Jungling is simply using the goldstream from jungle mobs, while still helping your team.

It is a lot of fun, but it takes practice, and the jungler often gets flack from his team for not ganking nonstop and leaving all the kills. Your job as jungler is to help the lanes, and help in teamfights. neither of which you can do if you fall behind. if the lane you are trying to gank is warded, go farm or back, as wasting time on a jungler is the best way to fall behind in league.

99% of the time, start item 1039 item 2003 x4

Always take smite, as using it at the last second to instakill buffs/dragon/baron is the best way to secure the objective for your team.

You start at the ancient golem buff, or the lizard elder buff. Kill one, kill 1 neutral mob camp on the way to the second buff, kill the second buff. you will be level 3.

Asking for help( by means of some damage) to kill the boss allows you to clear the jungle with a good amount of hp so you can gank.

EDIT- I would highly, highly reccomend watching some youtuber full game commentaries. Watching people play league helps you to see what others are doing, and many youtubers will explain why they did something. I would avoid watching challenger/LCS streams, as any advice they have will be geared for high level play, and be of no help to you.

Adding onto Worgslarg's post, jungling requires you take certain masteries and runes for most champions. I wouldn't recommend buying runes until level 20, though, because runes besides tier 3 are a ripoff. Some champions can jungle pretty efficiently even without runes; Warwick is the best example. He's so safe, you'll never die to a camp.

For masteries, I'd recommend taking Butcher in the offensive tree and in the defensive tree, take Tough Skin and Bladed Armor. Bladed Armor is especially helpful in clearing camps.

Definitely look up some guides for beginner junglers! They helped me when I was learning to jungle. I didn't jungle until I had runes, though, and I learned to jungle using Rammus.

You should take into account minion waves (at low levels they are a real pain), your laners cc, your enemys cc, their positioning, mobility, your cc and mobility, their level and yours.

No matter what you do, dont just stop. From camp to camp to lane and back to camp, every time you go somewhere it must have some sort of purpose. Plan your route so the time you spend walking around is the shortest possible. Apply pressure to objectives, control dragon and later on baron. Dont be afraid to last hit some minions if your laner has backed and you are passing by his lane.

One of my posts on jungling. Long post fyi http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/summoners-rift/en1ia9HK-changing-ranked?comment=000100000001

As for laning strategy, don't pick a champ just because they have skillshots. It's not always the case that they're better because of it. Focus on the pros and cons of using them to their full potential and strive to bring that out.

As far as ganking as Ahri, you need to tell you laners you're coming to gank. Target the champ you're going in for so they can engage, then dash in and hit 'em with E and burst 'em. Ahri ganks are terrifying when done well as her mobility makes it extremely hard to get away. Just make sure you land E. If they get past you, use your R to catch up to them and try to secure the kill with Q and W if possible. Don't chase beyond turret unless you have an R dash left and it's the last enemy teammate in the area. Also, it's a good idea to let the adc get the kill eve if you land E in the first place. Help with Q damage, but don't try to kill him if your adc can clearly do so. If they can't then kill, but if they can, let them have it.

With Jinx, fire rockets at low health champs who think they're safe. Vision is your friend. Typically, champs run away when they have low health and often times, they'll recall in a bush or something. If you see them run into a bush at low health, you can bet they're recalling which give your rocket 8 seconds to kill them. They usually never see it coming. It makes you a force to be reckoned with even when you're not in the vicinity as well. If there's a teamfight across the map and you're not there, pick off the low health champs if they're going even or beating your team. It's also hilarious to blast away runaways trying to escape from you in-lane. The global ult is wonderful. Keep map awareness, guess sometimes if you don't know where in the bush they are. I land almost all of my guess rockets by adjusting my shot based on their projected path before they're out of vision. It's a lot easier than you'd think. I don't recommend firing at them sideways though unless you know you can land it. Champs are unpredictable enough you'll rarely land a sideways shot.

Thanks for the tips. I was wondering what good Junglers would be that I have- I have all the champs below 3150 IP price. Others I am unsure of IP price because I just played a ton of matches for them are Katarina, Evelynn, Karthus, Riven, Heimerdinger, Morgana, and Teemo. My only 6300 ip champs are Ahri and Jinx. Which of these would be good junglers? I was looking Nidalee as well (IP weekend=I can have it in a few hours by spamming the 15 minute map) and may have her as well. I would prefer using Jinx to jungle because she is the most interactive champ I have used in forever, but I would really just like to know which ones can potentially jungle.

Thanks so much =D.

Evelynn's the only good one out of the champs you listed. Riven's okay, but I don't recommend it. Fighters with good AOE, mobility, invisibility, or sustain do best in jungle in-general. Lee Sin, Nocturne, Shyvana, Nautilus, Master Yi, Wukong, Udyr, etc. Evelynn, Nocturne, and Rengar work because their ganks are terrifying. Lee Sin is undoubtedly the best all-around jungler with good ganking, some of the best mobility in the game, and good waveclear. High learning curve though. I prefer Shyvana and Volibear, for waveclear and gank respectively, but what you do is up to you. I've heard of some bizarre junglers doing well. Just don't expect to be favored by teams if you go against the meta. You'll always have something to prove.
