Kalista: ally hostage situation/10

Kalista is truly a very bad champ in general i think, just played aram with kalista on my team, i got oathsworn straight away without my permission and then the game proceeded to be the worst 25 minutes of my life. Any and i mean any form of attack i tried, doesnt matter if i was utterly destroying an enemy or if my kalista was taking hits from 3 champs at once i would get dragged away like a dog on a leash, often into my death or away from a kill. Please make it so when kalista tries to oathsworn a yes or no menu appears or something otherwise kalista is just terrible. As title says "ally hostage situation/10"

If she shackles you at the start in SR and other maps like dominion, you're TRAPPED in her range anyway so you physically can't escape... nevermind how long it takes to shop (I shop fast and am at the edge of the barrier, but I still can't escape her shackle. I don't want her oath, and I certainly don't want to give her mine. Especially as a jungler, sure it might make for a good gank but even as WW I'm not her lapdog. I just wanted to kill the crab, I have counterjungling to do and you're already winning your lane - LEAVE ME ALONE YOU CRAZY DEAD LADY!

You aren't really an oathsworn, we consider you minions.

Junkο11/22/2014, 6:57:36 PM4 votes

I find this very unlikely, as you can chose where you go after Kalista ults, and she cannot grab you beyond the range of of the ult dash anyway.

Also you can refuse a soulbound by walking too far away when she uses her item, before you die.

So I was Vi, started red. Kalista came down because we were getting invaded, oathsworn me THEN, while I was in front of the enemy team, and apparently there is some animation because I couldn't move after she used the spear on me, and 2 of us died. It was the dumbest fucking thing I've ever seen. They talk about how they don't want Tiny's toss and shit in the game due to the potential to troll, meanwhile Kalista.

I have only played one game as a support with a kalista ADC as my lane partner, so I don't have much experience to speak of; but, I was fortunate that the player was wise and pulled me in at the proper times. Plus, I was able to aim properly to utilize the knock up. That was a game on Summoner's Rift...

So, Kalista's ult is all about timing and skill, just like every other champion. How many times have you been screwed by J4's ult? How about all the Sion ult misses? The list goes on.... In the end, there is nothing you can do about bad players. It stings like a bitch, but some people just drag you down...

D0nC11/22/2014, 10:46:23 PM2 votes

Oh and pulling someone out of his pentakill is just golden trolling.

DioBrandoh11/23/2014, 1:29:53 PM1 votes

TBH regardless of whether it was Kalista or not a troll will be a troll. There should be a better declining mechanic to prevent a misclick like a Yes/No box like the Surrender box but that's mainly just going to prevent bad partnering. Regardless the player themselves activates the 2nd part of the ult so if Kalista pulls you up you can put yourself back in combat immediately.

what is wrong with just a yes or no popup? its at the very start of the game who cares?

NeTBuS2111/23/2014, 4:47:57 PM1 votes

LOL OMG yes or no menu... Worst idea ever come on what when she ults to save you from dying and u dont have time to put yes? LOL See i main kalista and what you need to do is have communication with the adc, just talk with him about the ult before the minions spawn and you should be fine. Or add me and you can be my supp because is really hard to find a good supp.

I main Kha'Zix for jungle and nothing is more annoying than being forced to ganking top while I'm getting blue buff. Combine that with being a rather squishy jungle and it was not a fun game. As most of you know, Kha'Zix relays on catching someoNE by themselves unaware, so I prefer to wait until I'm ready to gank. Kalista will just force me into a 2v2 up top lane which usually means death if I'm not ready to pick one off before going to the other.

Uhh...What?

You don't get literally dragged along the tether, what the heck are you talking about? I've played several games where I was Bound to her and we split up.

The only time that happens is during her ult, and even then, you can still choose where to launch yourself, so if you think that cannonballing into 3 champs at once is a dumb move, you can use the ult to run away.

Ethri11/23/2014, 6:25:58 PM1 votes

I've only supported a Kalista twice, but I must say it all depends on the skill of the Kalista. The first one I played with was raging and was on tilt so she used her ult at awful times, which completely prevented me from saving people that could have been saved. The second one I played with knew what they were doing and I was always able to anticipate her using ult before she used it.

Though, yes I do agree people should be able to agree whether or not they become her tether partner.

i was playing garen and i was in the front line soaking damage and destroying the enemys. kalista was our top laner and multiple times that game she helped the enemy team escape my ult by sucking me in when i was already in the middle of the fight.

i would say around 60% of her ults hindered our team and got our team killed even if i did launch out of her and blow up there carrys a couple times it was very annoying. the only upside was that as a 29-7-14 garen it gave me a chance to feed our carry without having to worry about ksing since i have an extra 5k gold in the bank.

Just supported for a Kalista for the first time, and it was hands down one of the worst experiences I have ever had while playing League. I thought that the reports must be exaggerated, but nope; supporting for Kalista, particularly as a poke or heal support, is pure hell.

Changes that MUST be made: Agree to be bound. When I was bound, my character just froze up out in the open for at least ten seconds, I thought the game had broken. Give the oathsworn a way to choose when to be picked up. My suggestion? Give both players the ability to use her ult. When Kalista uses it it should require you to accept it. Otherwise, there should be an icon next to Kalista whenever the ult is up, to allow you to make a quick getaway without hoping and praying that they are paying attention to your hp.

Until this is fixed, I am banning her every game, or dodging every time someone on my team picks her.

Luckily my first time supporting a Kalista wasn't so bad, we had pretty good synergy together. I would peel for her easily when things got tough, and she would follow up easily whenever we went in for a kill. That being said though..

I was surprised to see that you don't get an option to accept or decline the oathsworn. As I was moving to lane, I suddenly get stopped in my tracks, only to see the Kalista binding me to her. Also, her ult is extremely tricky. At times during a team fight or a 3v2 situation, I would be trying to peel for Kalista and either set up the kill/run away when all of a sudden I'm dragged to her and I have to choose where I launch myself to. It's really awkward, as I never expect it nor am I ever prepared to launch myself when it happens.

I realize its probably hard for Riot to do something to provide an option/indicator for her oathsworn bind and ult, but it'd be nice to have. You're either doomed to be bound to a terrible and negative Kalista or you're lucky enough to have a good Kalista who effectively helps you and herself. I assume Kalista is a champion best played when its a duo bot lane, where they can communicate via Skype or other programs. Other than that, a random solo-queue Kalista is more difficult to play with.

HexTechBomber11/24/2014, 2:58:13 PM1 votes

Whats odd is that in the video about Kalista they said that the offer is made and whether the player chooses to accept or not. Yet sounds like the option isn't really given :/

Solidair311/22/2014, 9:37:14 PM1 votes

You can blame her for grabbing you, but launching yourself into your death is all you, man.

Her new mechanic is something that we all have to get used to, it's going to take some time.

I played support and getting ulted by Kalista was one of the worst experiences I had. My keyboard went whack and I accidentaly camera locked. I then aimed too late and ran into a wall. A few seconds later, I was swiftly picked off by the enemies' mid laner. item 3073 Blitzcrank item 3073

I see her being good for pro play because of her skill cap and potential to add a lot to the game; but for soloq and the average player she is very sub par. Playing with a complete stranger in soloQ I hate when she grabs me in a fight when Im at 20% hp and didn't want to go in, now I feel obligated to get the most of it and land the knock up to help the team. I think she is just meh.

NorthernDruid11/23/2014, 12:46:16 PM1 votes

The most frustrating part of it isn't even the skill part of it or Kalista players using it on you. It's that you don't have any idea what is happening, it's a knowledge gate for the player who gets oathbound. And with the new location of buffs and debuffs it's actually quite hard to realise she's done something to you and what it means. Because during a game I've got very few opportunities to read that small buff. Then adding to that the fact that when she yoinks you you have no idea what's going on or what to do, and that you have relatively little time to do it?

Yeah, this ability is really cool and interesting, but needs work before it'll be worth the nuisance in non-team environments.
