why do the last 3 picks get a ban?

seeing as roles are guaranteed being first pick is shit unless you are picking the fotm op garbage that has no counters.

Picking first means that someone on the other team cant choose them first. When you choose a champ, it is the same as banning it since no one else can pick it.

so who should get the bans ? if your 3rd you always have a ban if the top 3 get it, or if the bot 3 get it.

this is why they are coming out with 5 bans per team

This is rather nitpicky of me, but honestly this is not the reason they are going to 5 bans. They are raising the number of bans because the champion pool is absolutely massive at this point, and the number of options per role now means that there would still be viable options if all bans were spent on a single role.

At a higher ELO, there is also a much higher level of diversity in terms of pick viability so the bans would not necessarily force a role into a really poor champion selection.

This, and also you can still trade champions. I often offer to do this for other roles when I'm first pick, for example, because I am fairly confident blind picking.
