So I guess we are stuck waiting another two weeks for Yi and Essence Reaver nerfs

I honestly came to the boards to see if I could find anything on Yi but all I see are people crying about Aatrox.

Yi doesnt need nerfs. A cheese strat is a cheese strat and its extremely easy to deal with.

Anybody here can shed some light on this? I haven't been playing for a while and got a Master Yi top on my first game today. I obliterated him. What's broken about Yi + ER?

Yi alone isn't TOO bad.. can still be bursted/cc... can't really be tanked though, too much true dmg too fast. Yi and taric though? not much you can do if they aren't brain dead monkeys. They could even just be sharing half a brain and be ok lol.

Why should Essence be nerfed? Who is getting to an above 50% banrate and a high winrate using Essence Reaver?

Essense reaver is overrated on yi. The chances are you are not going to need that many autos to kill squishies, or they are not going to let yi land that many hits on them, and what yi's q does is that its cooldown refreshes every time it gets kills (which is why yi is a clean up champ).

Unless you have a good reason to focus tanks first with yi or the enemy team is full of tanks that you're looking to shred tanks with guinsoo + botrk + essense reaver, ER is overrated on yi.

Stormblazer + shiv + IE yi is better in most cases, even though I liked the pre-8.11 patch shiv and IE better on him. The true damage bonus is only worth as much as 50% additional crit damage only if the enemy has 100 armor or higher (ignoring the additional 10% crit chance from the new shiv + IE). And that 10% crit chance is definitely not worth 600 gold. In the current meta, 10% crit chance is worth only 300 gold. No squishies in the game, btw, often gets 100 armor, even in super late games. And the chances are you're not going to build crit to take down tanks with yi either (on-hit yi will take down tanks much faster). So in many ways, yi got nerfed, and people who didn't build crit on yi previous to patch 8.11 did not know how to play him in most cases. (guinsoo is honestly fine. But I've seen some ridiculous builds, like steraks gage, without triforce to make it worse)

Stormblazer is good with shiv and the movespeed comes in handy because the chances are, after you dash to a carry, it's going to try to dash or flash away from you and that's when the movespeed boost comes in handy.

The only thing I don't like about that build is that with the bloodrazor, stormblaer, shiv, and berserker's greeves, and the precision rune page, yi will get well above 2.5 attack speed, which means stats are wasted.
