LoL pros are paid an actual salary. It's the difference between being a horse jockey and an MLS player, one can make you a millionaire, the other can give you a decent living for everyone participating.

Riot also pays LCS teams about 125,000 per split. That's 250k a year.

If I'm not mistaken, that's because League pros are paid a salary. Also, The International prize pool comes from Compendium sales, and Riot doesn't do a sale like that.

I think League players that DON'T win the grand prize end up ahead actually from the other sources of revenue, but yeah if you want to gamble and go for #1 then DOTA pulls in more. I think... I haven't spent too much time in deep research on the topic.

P.S. They could raise some the prie money of 2nd to 8 teams, though
