To be fair it wasn't just Dyrus. All of TSM has played like shit all worlds.

well...tbh...It wasn't Dyrus that costed the game though. It was the team refusing to take any risk and make an engage. The Jinx Dragon steal is cool and all...but Tsm backed off of dragon like scared little kids...They didn't respect Jinx's damage at all or Malphites engage potential with syndra. Elise was honestly just worthless and ended up being a 1 trick pony.."cocoon"
I agree but that build was just terrible. Thornmail and sunfire? When dyrus ulted 4 at baron, he dealt like 10% of their hp.
thoguh Dyrus is not the only pro still buying Thornmail...i really don´t get what they want with it, it just gets outperformed by any other armor item currently (heck, even just standing with a sunfire next to the adc will probably deal more dmg while adding more effective health). The loss is not on him though, it´s just the same problem over and over again since Regi is gone: they are too indeceisive, even if they get an early lead. With Regi they´d just bluecard engage on sight, now they just sit back till it´s lost.
The same reason they dont abuse titanic on darius, they are still playing on old patches item wise.
It's not exactly Dyrus that's the problem. The shot calling in general was just plain bad. Additionally, I would see how he would take thornmail for Kog'maw, as Kog is the most important damage dealer on their team.
