Making Ranked Better! *Important Thoughts*

Hello to the League of Legends player base, Riot, and all gamers out there!

I go by HaitianSensation and currently a Platinum player in my 3rd year of league of legends (Ranked wise).

I think I have a possible improvement for the current state of our solo queue. First off, let me start off by saying that the changes that were made to solo queue over the years have definitely improved the game and I thank Riot for their efforts and believe they are moving in a positive direction. Secondly, this is just a suggestion, I thought about it for a long time and figured I would share, there is no point in complaining and not bring a solution to something you care about.

I think we should revamp the solo queue system to add some of these adaptations. I once heard that Korea has a similar system for their gaming community.

  1. Your account should be linked to your Social Security number or some type ID that only allows you to have 1 (even maybe 2) account(s) in total. There is no need for people to have 19 accounts for league of legends. All these extra accounts do is create "smurfs" that ruin the game experience for other players. This would help eliminate all the account boosting/selling and would allow new players to learn the game at their own pace against people of equal skill level as them. This also forces players to care more so about their only account and not give up and not have the attitude, "well this is only my smurf, I don't are, I afk". The huge upside to implementing this change is that higher elo players can now strictly play with people around f their skill level and not have to wait 10-60 minutes for a queue. This also helps improve solo queue which can translate to the competitive scene. Since you actually get to play at a higher level and learn from the game, the professionals will get better practice. This also helps those players who care about climbing the ladder in hopes of becoming a professional to deal less with players that do not care.

  2. I think the general idea of players getting LP based off your "team's performance" is a little overrated and unfair. There is only so much you can do with pings and typing in a game that is constantly in motion and has some players using voice chat systems. With that said, I feel like we should look to use our current grading system as a way to allocate the amount of LP each player gets (and not leave it to win or lose). For an example, I lost a game where I earned a S+ grade on bard with a score line of 6-5-38, but lost the game and lost the same amount of LP as another player on my team who had a score line of 5-17-16 on Kayle. Now I know we all have bad games once in a while, but we should not be punished for the one time that other player(s) had a bad game or just chose not care. This is not to say that someone from the losing team should gain LP while his teammates lost LP, but maybe not lose as much. Maybe lose 10 LP instead of 23 when you put your heart and soul into the game.

  3. With more than 120 champions in league of legends I think it is time we got two more bans on each side. 10 will not ruin the game in my opinion. It also allows for more unique picks and not the same champion pools being shown. We can easily give each player a ban along with the current format.

  4. I also feel like we should not automatically lose our promotional games for dodging or the (client bugging out). Also, I feel like for promos, everyone playing should be in promos to make it more competitive (that is just an evil suggestion tho xD)

In all, thank you for taking the time to even scan through this long post. The suggestion listed above is not perfect by any means, but just an opinion/suggestion. Good luck on the rift everyone!

Two big downsides to preventing smurfs by having accounts connected to social security numbers:

  1. Player's parents become concerned when their kids ask them what their social security number is so they can play an online game. This move would singlehandedly drop the playerbase by a huge amount because of parental concerns. Pretty much anyone who's under 18 would never be allowed to play the game again because their parents won't give them their SSNs.

  2. Some YouTubers use smurfs for very good things - playing on smurfs to teach players how to climb out of different ELOs or playing on smurfs to teach players how to play the game as a whole (basically, unranked to diamond YouTube series). Killing this aspect of the game would overall be detrimental to players who watch those videos because, well, they would no longer exist. They would now have to rely on teaching us by either intentionally losing games to drop their main account in rating or playing on their main accounts at their level, which one could argue that bronze is almost like playing an entirely different game from diamond.

As for whether you gain/lose LP being based on the current grading system, it could work, but I'm not sure how well. Whether or not you win is the best in my opinion, because you really only lose if it's a game that you couldn't carry. For a support main, it's not easy to carry games - why do you think Blitz is so popular in ranked? That one god hook is all it takes to turn a losing game into a win. But, if you're good enough, you can carry any team from your main role. Therefore, if you can't carry, you deserved to lose that LP. I don't care if you're 20/0 on the best hypercarry in the game - if you lost, it was because you didn't play well enough to carry the game, and you deserved to lose the LP.

I don't think the "social security" is a good idea. It runs too much of a "real life" risk and is just overall a bad idea, not only will people stop playing this game I also see lawsuits over the issue.

If people want to have multiple accounts I don't see a reason to limit them.
Lets say 1 account you play your promo games win 10 and get placed B5, so you make another and so on. It also helps riot with making $ if more people make more accounts by their 2nd-3rd account the player will not take the time to save up the LP but instead uses the faster way RP to buy champions, runes etc.

The LP issue is something that has bothered me and also goes well with the death timer topic also.
A person with a KDA of 0-20-4 will have the same death timer to someone that has KDA of 7-1-10 so that has always bothered me.

The dodge is something that has never really bothered me to be honest but I'm not Plat or Diamond so I don't have 30 year Q's but when I do have 5-10 mins I just watch a video and such and once the Q pops up I accept and go on with my business if someone dodges the Q I don't care sure I have to wait but in my mind I always think " Who ever dodged probably had to go to work or emergency etc" or just "Real Life issues" etc at no point do I feel like the person who dodged should get penalized just by leaving a game early before it really started, in game leaves yeah penalize the person but in champion select NO.

NP, I read the whole thing most people don't even use paragraphs just 1 huge post without any type of gap between their sentences and topics.
