@Riot Report Your Own Esports News!

There are actually a ton of people who play this game who like to follow what is happening with the lcs teams. You guys should have updates on the esports portion of your site about players signing with teams, being traded, etc... Why do we have to learn all this stuff on reddit or from the players themselves on twitch?

It would be way better to report this stuff on the league website. There's a lot of fans who care about where aphromoo signed and what all the new teams are and what team liquids roster is etc... :)

Hi.

So, our general position with teams is that we want them to control their own narratives - so while we know what, for example, Golden Guardians' roster looks like, we don't publish it on lolesports.com or in the Global Contract Database - we want teams to be able to put out their own content. As soon as they put out announcements, sites like Reddit, ESPN and others pick it up and write their own stories. We think this is a great thing. It shows the commitment and interest in the NA LCS ecosystem.

Could we require teams to post at X time and have our own story ready to go? Sure. But having an official Riot channel takes away from the media attention teams are able to generate and ultimately takes away from their narrative - so we'd much rather sit back and let teams make their own announcements without our interference. Ultimately, we will find the story lines and make content around them during the season - but until then - a team posting content is the #1 way for them to make connections with fans, and we want to encourage that.

Didn't realize I was logged in on an account I'm leveling and not my Riot account - but just posting for the pretty red letters (i.e. the above post was me).

You could provide a portal for teams to release information. Look at the NFL.com website. Each team has their own sub-site to release information as they want, but the top level site gives fans one site to go to get all the information. lolesports could be that portal. I believe the NFL also has a minimum amount of activity each team has to maintain, Riot could do that so that fans are being engaged regularly.
