Does anyone else feel like skill is starting to become less important than champ select now?

I can't help but feel like the balance is becoming so toxic that the team who gets the counter picks or OP champions gets an auto win in a lot of situations

watching the announcers freak out, "OMG Laurlo killed Darshan solo!" and he's playing recently buffed Irelia(triforce changes) into a mage top laner

i mean it's not really surprising, i just miss the game being about skill more than poor champion balance.
