Faker was awarded the player of the series in their semis vs RNG. The reason he got awarded player of the series was literally "He is the core of the team. Every iteration of SKT has been build around him".

What has this to do with the current series?! He played mediocre at best. He saved some people with his ult (which is Galio's entire purpose and doesn't speak to good play), but he also put himself in dangerous positions with his ult multiple times, handing over free kills. Just giving him player of the series because he is the core of the team is a joke, and completely robs the other SKT players. He didn't deserve that player of the series in any way. I can imagine it isn't fun being an SKT player, because you'll always be in Faker's shadow and not getting the credits you deserve.

I am amazed how far this Faker hype has spiraled out control. Some people really need a reality check. Blind hype in Faker is really ruining the LoL esports scene.

TBH I'd of given it to Bang or Huni

Huni made sure their macro play was strong constantly with the splitpush thread and Bang had pressure on him all series to perform since RNG built around protecting the adc over and over and he had to play with whatever he could given the Galio priority, Faker's role was more denying the midlaner the ability to roam and pressing R to protect people. Denying RNG Galio was definitely useful but given how much tower pressure Huni had and how important he and bang were in certain fights I felt both had more impact even if they died more than Faker.

I agree, I would likely have given it to Huni as well. Faker did almost nothing to deserve player of the series. Even taking away Galio from RNG should be attributed to the coach who drafted the comp, instead of Faker.

Faker deserved the MvP over the whole series, as he was the most consistent player through most of them. What he didn't deserve was MvP in every win as well. He played well in every game, but he didn't had any game-winning/deciding moves.

Their first one, ok he was a large reason they won that one. Good roams/ults, fair enough.

Second one; He didn't do much then just be the frontline and press R. Bang played a great Kog'maw and had a clutch snipe on twitch leading to the win. He should have been MvP for that game.

Same for the third one; Faker didn't set-up anything important, he just zooned and pressed R. Peanut was the one that created the first blood, peanut was the one that caught out Lee'sin. Faker didn't do much. He deserved it . You could make a case for Huni as well with the Gnarr ult on elder dragon, but faker? Come on...

It was probably based on the way he played the entire tournament, even in the losses Faker was still going strong. 2nd game Galio vs 5 squishies was a no contest

Faker's "plays" are often blown out of proportion. I remember a game in which he was 3-man ganked in top lane. Elise missed her max range cocoon, meanwhile Faker ate skillshots from the other 2. Eventually Jayce hammer-pushed Faker to safety under his inner turret. It was called a godly escape, yet all Faker did was running in a straight line towards his turret.

Misplays from others are often attributed as skilled outplays by Faker, even if he literally didn't do anything.

(Honestly I notice the same with Bjergsen, when he just presses R on Syndra. Nice outplay)

There is a video of the team communication during then. As soon as the cocoon misses, Faker tells his team that he can live and tells the team to take advantage of the situation. And he survives as he expected.

The reason he's amazing is not because he always outplays others mechanically. He's ability to calculate situations and make decisions are what's amazing about him. The korean caster (former pro) explained this and he even said that there are lots of players who can be like Faker at least mechanically.

edit: I forgot to mention that I don't watch the NA broadcasts... because I've always felt that casters don't really know what they're talking about... in NA. So maybe you are right.

His team was literally in no position to help him, so yes the most logical thing to do is make use of your number advantage elsewhere on the map. This has nothing to do with great plays or communications. Also, if the opponent team had played it better, they could have killed Faker. There was no way for Faker to anticipate this because he couldn't know the opponent would make misplays.

Another example is when Faker gets ganked 2v1 in midlane. All he does is flash, then walk away. He didn't juke any skillshots, and yet it is considered a godly escape or an amazing flash. Is this because of his communication to his team, who are still happily farming away in laning phase?

Like I said, everything he does gets blown out of proportion.

What is the problem? I am not saying Faker is bad by any means, in fact I think he is a great player. But people are way too delusional when it comes to him. If someone else makes a play, it's nothing special, but if Faker were to make the exact same play it all of a sudden is a godly move.

I am in no way claiming the plays are easy, just that all players should be held to the same standards. There's no reason for your passive aggressiveness.

It was annoying yeah, as Huni pretty much played that perfectly. Got his passive just before the fear, almost killed noct on his own under the turret and stunned gnar right when fakers ult knock-up came off and disengaging right away, while during the whole time dodging almost every boomerang.

Faker is good, but it's getting annoying that the casters credit him for every good SKT play. It's like the whole Wolf Rakan engage into shockwave again...
