That announcement and the reason behind it was more or less because of how much had to be put into a weekly operation with only 3 days compared to the 6 that the other regions have. Why not, match it? Well nobody knows how much outside operations are done at the technical HQ of Riot in NA. EU however...idk...match the regions?
If it's a talk of international relevance, it shouldn't matter how many games you play in a regular season more than it's have a damn idea what you're doing and not wuss out of your confidence. Stage games are more "tests" than "practice" and having that one test vs having up to 3 sounds more serious than imagined.
But when you use the following point right here:
You don't improve from playing 9 competitive games nor do you adapt or learn or train new strategies in real circumstances.
This is one of the only reasons I'd be fine with a switch to a Best of 2 or more than likely 3 again. When I think about the team dynamics in both NA and LPL, there's a whole lot of experimenting that can be done compared to what it was when the best of series were established a few years ago. Take the last 4 weeks: Cloud9, Optic, and about 5 LPL teams are taking advantage of how the meta has shifted and are trying out different procedures. The difference is the best of series; LPL you can slip up once and consider a retake with the same strat. NA: you goofed. Try again tomorrow/next week. It leaves you with the "does it truly work" mentality especially since we can't see scrims or anything.
Rewind back to the topic of besting Asian teams. Been done. Needs the right team. Plain and simple.
