Can someone give me a breakdown of the 2015 LCS Season?

Because I'm totally confused. Here's what I understand:

  1. Regional Regular Season (x number of weeks)
  2. Regional Playoffs + Finals
  3. MSI
  4. Worlds?

MSI is basically Worlds minus all the runner-up teams and a grand champion. Doesn't that kill the anticipation for worlds a bit? I mean, the results from this are very likely to mirror worlds. Sure, upsets happen but say TSM crushes SKT 3-1 (because TSM always loses first game), and then come world finals the same thing happens. It just won't mean as much because we've already seen it before.

  1. Spring Split
  2. Regional Playoffs
  3. MSI.
  4. Summer Split
  5. Worlds

So the season is divided into 2 splits, with a major international tournament of each one. A split lasts for 9 weeks(I think, my mind is going blank here and i don't feel like looking it up) and at the end of a split there is playoffs and the summer promotion, which takes place between the top challenger teams and the bottom LCS teams, after this there is MSI. MSI is sort of a warm up tournament to give an idea how the regions will face up at worlds. In between MSI and worlds, however, there is a summer split, complete with playoffs and a promotion tournament, and a lot can change in the relative strength of teams in that time. For example, SKT, the winner of last seasons MSI( it wasn't called MSI but it was basically the same thing) didn't even make it to worlds.
