SKT Winning Worlds

Worlds 2017 Knockout Stage

SKT will not have to face either LongZhu or Samsung and will only meet them in the finals. (Assuming they aren't both disqualified) SKT will almost certainly win against Misfits, and only needs to get past RNG and one of the others in the finals. LongZhu won against SKT in LCK because of the game plan that focuses Huni, and SKT will have some countermeasure prepared by kkoma. Khan and PrAY are good players, but they aren't that much better that Faker and Peanut, so it would pretty much depend on the draft and would depend on how long SKT can stall from LongZhu's early game. Samsung Galaxy made it into game 5 against SKT in 2016 worlds partially because of the Braum Sejuani combo, but that was a pocket pick from Samsung. Samsung have been a good team, but SKT know what Samsung can do compared to RNG as they have faced against them many times. RNG is the only main obstacle blocking SKT, but they have better odds (history repeats itself), and the finals would be won against any Korean team.

The only one who can stop SKT now are RNG and LongZhu, but LongZhu aren't used to the pressure of being in worlds finals compared to SKT, and so SKT has the upper hand.

Huni < Khan (Khan wins by a lot) Peanut > Cuzz Faker = BDD but faker has more experience so Faker wins but not by a lot PrAY > Bang GorillA and Wolf IDK, wolf has some great plays but GorillA can do the same so idk who's better depends on adc

i gotta go with LZ generally they are great at what hurts skt most, not letting faker get ahead, BDD is great at keeping safe and lane making sure faker wont snowball top will almost awlays win because of cuzz camping khan and prAy and gorillA usually go even bot with them but get ahead form roams from khan (whos usually ahead) and cuzz who generally takes high mobile high cc jungles like zac and gragas to lock down faker or bang easily

I disagree with your theory of SKT winning worlds, and here is my counter argument. "Khan and Pray are good players, but aren't that much better than Faker and Peanut." - couple things here. Pray is arguably the best player in the world right now. His team fighting positioning so far at worlds, not to mention the raw damage output he is doing make's him LongZhu's top player. (12k damage one teamfight, gotta be a world record.) And Faker is mechanically gifted, yes, but he is not performing at the same level this year as he did in worlds past. While SKT did make it out of groups with a 5-1 record, at least half of those games SKT found themselves behind, some by 10k gold. As for Khan and Peanut, Khan has been mostly subjected to playing scaling tanks like Jax or Jarvan IV, only playing his famous Jayce once. Peanut, arguably, has had his worst split of his career, and his performance at worlds has been less than stellar. Blank has had better number across the board, as he is more suited to the current meta. SKT has a severe weakness in their early game, allowing stronger early game teams, like EDG, to rout them in the early game. If SKT didn't have their clutch factor, or if teams were able to make fewer mistakes, SKT's late game team fighting prowess would be brought down. They lost their first game ever at words in week 2 to AHQ, beaten by Westdoor's Fizz of all things. As for Misfits, it's hard to say. While they are certainly not expected to upset the defending champions, Misfits rapid fire early game is enough to put some worry into SKT and I think, if they want to win, SKT has to do some serious re-evaluation of their play style and have a lot of holes to fix. And I wouldn't count RNG out just yet. Their week 2 was immaculate, even against Samsung, an arguably strong Korean team (with their own weaknesses ofc). I think RNG vs SKT will go to a game 5, and if SKT do end up winning, I wouldn't say its a close one. I noticed you put a lot of thought into this, so I wanted to do the same. I dont mean to discourage you, as SKT have the easier side of the bracket, ofc. If they do manage to pull it off and win worlds they will have earned it, and proven me wrong, and if any team is able to do that, I'll have that much more respect for them. SKT look more vulnerable than ever at worlds, and maybe this is the year they don't make it.
