Pool 1 vs. Play in

Pool 1 teams : Longzhu, EDG, G2, TSM

1-3 in getting out of groups

Play in teams : WE, C9, Fnatic, Fb#

3-1 in getting out of groups

Whaddya think? Got over their worlds stage nerves against the weaker competition? Or did people just really prepare for the pool 1 teams? Did they collectively choke under the pressure? wtf is going on with the seeding if 3 of the 4 best teams went out and 3 of the 4 weakest teams advance?

Edit: My bad, TSM was pool 2, Flash Wolves (who got smashed worse) were pool 1

perhaps the teams that got through were just better at adapting to the play styles of other regions, since you know each region has a different play style from another.

TSM was not pool 1, NA was bad at msi and lost their spot to LMS, which made FW pool 1 and TSM pool 2 with IMT.

Your point is still valid as they failed even worse than TSM.

Different teams play better in certain stages, TSM has been known to choke in the international stage along with g2.

While c9/Fnatic have proven they play well in the international stage.

EDG? they've been mediocre period. WE? theres a meme about how mediocre they are if WE shows up they win, if World Elite shows up, they lost.

Everyone else doesn't have enough data.

WE and Fanatic were 1st in their regions over most of the regular season so they weren't exactly slackers but I think there is something to getting in the groove of playing on stage for sure.

Regional LCS title just mean snothing. Like if that is what you want (Uzi), then you can get it. But it doesn't translate to the biggest tournament of the year.

But some players (NA) have already said they never expect or plan to win worlds. So it is understandable that they only win NA and flop every year.

Pool 1: LZ was great, even though against weak competition G2 was good but just unlucky to be in a group of death and they performed considerably decent there, so they can chin up TSM (still count as #1 seed) and FW were just bad EDG was extremely inconsistent and choked hard (if they do not throw the game vs SKT week 1 they are in a tie-breaker for 2nd place and they win it)

Pool 3: WE was good, even though they are a bit suspect vs the 1st tier teams FNC got lucky to be in the easisest group to get out for, BUT when they showed up week 2, they showed that they were the 2nd best team in that group and that they are good and very very dangerous for any non Korean team when they are at the top of their game, despite their weaknesses, because of their individual talent C9 was average-ish and got lucky that EDG and aHQ choked, but they showed a very strong mental fortitiude and their traditional ability to seize the opportunites, a thing NA teams have historically lacked FB was not too terrible for being a wildcard, so their performance is okay-ish

Well if Korea got three pool 1 seeds like they deserved, 3 pool 1 seeds would have advanced. There is something to being able to play some practice games against the regions formerly known as wildcards. But the downside is one of the top 4 regions didn't get their #3 through. So there is that downside risk as well.

Further, I would think teams that didn't play in prelims would be rusty week 1 and not so much in week 2. And while that was true for EDG, IMT and TSM were the reverse, and FW was just terrible all around. FB was just not up to par with their group at all and LZ was just better than their group. so no help there.
