Was Phreak correct on the vayne build not working?

Phreak in game 4 of Renegade vs Coast said Vayne needed a last whisper or IE not a Bloodthirster the other shout caster seemed like he was trying to call phreak out.

Was the underfed Vayne with lower cs better off with Bloodthirster or should he have got a Last whisper or an IE against a Sunfire, Randuin Shen?. it felt like the discussion went on for a good 30 secs roughly with Phreak sounding tongue tied/agitated.

Personally, I agree with Phreak. I understand the concept of the build, but I think that Vayne was much less effective tahn she should have been due to the fact that she could not get past the brick wall of shen. Thas just my Gold V opinion though.
