Garen picked in LPL
...And does nothing. Even the casters were clowning on the Garen pick, calling him "Mundo without a slow" and "bad Renekton."
Poor Garen. Even Urgot and Poppy are more competitively viable than him.

Its a shame Really. Even if he gets tanky he is unable to provide decent cc Like Sion or Quick damage while being tanky. Hes just irrelevant. His ult should be a AOE skill shot for bundle targets for the long ass cooldown it is on. Right now his ult feels like an Inferior Darius ult, when they removed Garens DFG his ult turned to crap (joke). For some reason all these tanks have these HP ratio/etc boost to damage or shields for being tanky but yet he doesn't. He jumps in fight gets focused (for some dumb ass reason), Leaves the fight, Passive heal his health then comes back in to deal damage somehow because he has damage(which he doesn't).
Thats because scrub Garens actually think building full tank on him is a good idea.
lmao
+ full tank.
Any more damage items and he gets deleted in teamfights.
Nope.
Thats not true in the slightest.
HIs W Gives him more than enough room to itemize very offensively
You can build at least two offensive items, and still be very tanky. I have built 3, while still having around 250 armor, 100 mr, and 3700~ish hp.
Edit: If you build Garen like a tank, you have no idea what you are doing. End of story. Zero reason to pick Garen if you are going to only build 1 offensive item and be useless for the rest of the game.
Secondary: Tank
Yea I guess Garen should never ever be considered as a usable tank, obviously Riot agrees.
Oh yeah and Ashe is listed as a support.
And Aatrox a tank
Do you see the problem?
If you build Garen full tank, and wonder why he "sucks compared to other tanks", then well thats just your stupidity.
I wonder if people still think urgot is an adc.
Ashe is listed as a support because she has permaslow, vision, and a global stun. I will admit that the permaslow does not mean much these days because of mobility but my point stands.
Aatrox is a tank because you dive into the middle of the enemy team, knock them up, and take all their focus and still keep fighting because of your revive passive, not to mention you build Aatrox tanky anyway. Not every tank has to bumble around like
, some can be tanks because they get into the middle of the enemy team and wreck havoc while using special skills to negate most of the focus they are subjected to.

Urgot is ADC because he does consistent targeted long range damage, just not with his basic attack.
Keep arguing.
I don't really need to
Aatrox? Tank?
Urgot? ADC?
Better list Gnar as a marksmen too... hehehe... because he already is listed as one.
Continue on in your ignorance.
Because you definitely know the purpose of the champions better than the company that spent the past 5 years designing them.
Sorry but you are not even trying to give evidence to backup the statements you are making (at least I am) and you have no credibility to be saying anything definitive about the roles of champions.
mfw riot themselves have admitted the source of data you are using is outdated
Ok then, give me a link where Riot says this.
Edit: If you build Garen like a tank, you have no idea what you are doing. End of story. Zero reason to pick Garen if you are going to only build 1 offensive item and be useless for the rest of the game.
Implying you can't build champions in different ways in order to better fit your team comp and what the team needs.
Garen is not a tank by definition because he does not have the CC to disrupt multiple enemies. He can be tanky and his base stats help his tankiness even before building tank items. I agree that Garen is currently non-competitive and I resort to itemizing more damage items for several reasons. Building tank on Garen only helps Garen and the enemy team quickly learns to ignore him until all the other opponents are killed. Only one damage item does not provide Garen with enough AD to be a meaningful threat. More than one damage item will have more impact and will force the enemy team to deal with Garen sooner than later.
I get
and
followed by full tank. Make his spin to win actually do something.
At least rush
...
I like to rush
first now for Garen. Then I get
Can I haz the link plz? :p
Oh no... the champion that takes litterally 0 skill isnt good.

his own fault, he built him like a moron.
garen is nothing but damage and tankyness. if you dont build damage on him, whats left is nothing but tankyness. which is basically nothing at all. go back and watch the replay. he got the drop on koggles a bunch of time. if at leats 1 of his items would have been a big damage item he would have been fine.
an i.e. would have absolutely wrecked the kog maw. you get a crit on your q, and ignite + ult does the rest. you probably dont even need the spin.
here is my preferred build.
(or
and rarely
if the enemy team only has slows)
this is core. no questions asked. he synergizes with everything the item has to offer. including the fact that his spin ticks 2 times per second and applys stacks accordingly.
again. his kit synergizes with everything this item has to offer. including the active. q, spin. ghostblade active into q + spin. garens kit is limited. so if you dont have enough utility BUILD SOME
synergizes with his passive, grants cdr, synergizes with his w passive. what more do you want? dont fall for
. your passive regenerates a ton anyways. and you want resistances in combination with health. his courage passive makes these items cost effective.
sticking power is the name of the game. you want that active to chase people down and keep them in spin range. dont fall for
. its shit. and i mean that. stacking 5 sunfires was an old troll build, when the passive still stacked, that turned into a meme. that doesnt mean the item is actually good on him in season 5. again. you dont have much in your kit, so you want to build into utility. and even though its a bit steeper, randuins has so much more to offer than sunfire.
garens kit scales with critical strike chance. his q and his spin can crit. this is a natural choice. rush it when you snowball hard. or switch it for
against ap heavy teams (its actually just a good item for him in general). or for a
against armor heavy teams.other possible choices include
against ad heavy teams or melee carries in your lane. you rush this item, and you win lane against any auto attack reliant champion. thats it. really. this one item will literally win you lane against
or other ad, auto attack reliant champions.
is a very viable choice, in case your team is suffering from heavy aoe magic damage.
instead of
against very squishy teams. the burst from the shiv proc on your q can deal quite some damage.
against cc heavy teams instead of
or
. i find myself rarely ever buying this due to its costs. but its a valid choice.
in place of
for those 4/5 ad enemy teams in combination with
and
. really, its for those 1 out of a 100 games, where the enemy team purely consists of ad champs, or 4 ad and 1 tank support.
i hope that helped. now go forth, and spin to win.
